SYNOPSIS
S
tells the story of eight strangers: Will (Smith), Riley (Middleton), Capheus (Ameen), Sun (Bae), Lito (Silvestre), Kala (Desai), Wolfgang (Riemelt) and Nomi (Clayton), each from a different culture and part of the world. While living their everyday lives, they suddenly have a vision of the violent death of a woman called Angelica (Hannah) and discover that they are ‘sensates’: otherwise normal humans who are mentally and emotionally connected and who are able to communicate, sense and use each other’s ense8
knowledge, language and skills. While trying to live their lives and figure out how and why this connection has happened and what it means, they are aided by another sensate, Jonas (Andrews), who is trying to protect them from “Whispers” (Mann), another sensate, who is similarly empowered and is hunting them down by tapping into their psychic link.

he creators of the “Matrix” movies, Andy and Lana Wachowski, have teamed up with J. Michael Straczynski (“Babylon 5”) to make a transcendental action-adventure drama with romantic undertones. In “Sense8,” an unknown force defies time and space to connect eight strangers who seem to have only two things in common: youth and good looks. It’s not too much of a stretch to imagine that an extraterrestrial millennial is using a dating app, moving from continent to continent, swiping right on eight gorgeous people in alluringly exotic settings. On Friday, Netflix will begin streaming the show’s 12 episodes, which snake through Mumbai, Seoul, Chicago, Mexico City, San Francisco,
Berlin, Nairobi and London. Beautifully shot and sublimely silly, “Sense8” is slower than “The Matrix” and not nearly as thrilling. It shares some of the style and sensibility of “Cloud Atlas,” the 2012 time-spanning film that the Wachowskis directed with Tom Tykwer. In terms of television, it’s probably closest to ABC’s series “Lost” and NBC’s “Heroes,” but more cosmopolitan, with snazzier camera work and a lead character who has particular resonance at the moment.

e know you have been eagerly waiting for the good news about Sense8, and it is finally here: Netflix has officially announced the renewal of its most talked about 2015 original sci-fi series for a second season. The announcement was made in a very original way – the renewal was announced by the cast members in the video posted on the official Netflix twitter page. The video
shows the stars of the series singing “Happy Birthday, Sense-eights” individually from different places around the world. Netflix is yet to schedule the release date of new episodes, so check back with us for the latest news, or subscribe to our notifications and get the premiere date of Sense8 season 2 automatically sent to your inbox as soon as it is announced.

reator J. Michael Straczynski recently granted an exclusive interview with AssignmentX to discuss the future of the show. While he did not offer much background on the possible storylines, he did let slip some tidbits about the sensates that viewers will meet in the upcoming season. He said that other clusters will be introduced in the new installment, but viewers should not expect them all to be good. According to Straczynski, not all sensates use their ability to help others. Some may even capitalize on those special gifts to hurt or cause pain.
“So not all Sense8s will be naturaly good people. Some people with that ability might not be the best people. So there’s a whole range of them,” said the series creator. Meanwhile, News Everyday offered some possible plotlines for season 2. One of its predictions is that the cluster would grow even stronger. As the sensates dwell and get used to their powers more, they could use their skills to tap into each other’s memories, just like what Will Gorski (Brian Smith) did to Riley (Tuppence Middleton) in the season finale.
