Hi from Istanbul and Vienna ! We proudly release the late summer issue of our newsletter. It’s not been a long summer, maybe you still feel like going to the beach, getting some fancy cocktails, staring at the sea and doing nothing. Despite the fact that autumn is coming soon, some of us already started to pack and are getting back to Vienna... We‘re excited. We are just looking forward to getting some chestnuts on a chilly October day while walking in the leafy streets of Vienna with friends. In our one and only late summer newsletter you will get to hear some updates from us, your EB and stories from all over the world. Before we all get back to work we still have a couple of days to enjoy and then we thought: Why not enjoy these days while reading our newsletter? We made a couple of changes: Instead of using good old emails, we wanted to have something much more interactive and easy to read. Therefore we came up with this issuu idea.We sincerely hope you will like it. In the beginning of September almost everyone will be back in Vienna and we will be working for the most amazing recruitment process (also physically) that AIESEC Vienna UV will have ever had. We are pretty ambitious and we have high goals, but we are working on it since May, so we are pretty comfortable with the process. In the recruitment we will need any kind of help coming from our members. As our old members, you are the ones with the knowledge when it comes to recruiting newbies. Therefore you are more than welcome to join us and change the face of AIESEC Vienna UV while recruiting the best people for our local committee. We cannot wait to see you all again ! Please stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget to check podio regularly. I’m sure you don’t want to miss an amazing term with the most amazing people in Vienna including YOU ! :) Sincerely yours, Hazan & Andres
My experience abroad... Before leaving for my internship, people were talking to me about culture shock and impact and life changing experiences. I never believed that there was something like that.
me realize how huge the world is. But all of us were there for the same thing: to give our students an amazing summer experience and to help them discover that they are the leaders of the future, by making them aware of world problems.
The moment I arrived in Istanbul I saw it with my own eyes. The city was amazingly“It gave me the Before the camp started, I was so nercrowded, chaotic and fascinating at thechance to develop vous to meet with the students, because same time. All the traffic jams, the pub-myself through I would have never expected to be a lic transportation system, the 17 milliondeveloping others”teacher someday. In the end I realized people made me think I won’t make it that I didn’t have to be a teacher and for 6 weeks, but then I remembered why I was that my students were in fact my new friends. there. I was there to change the world and change This made my work in the project much easier. my world at the same time. At first it seemed to It was easier to discuss, it was easier to present be utopic, but then Myself My World 2013 hap- something, because the environment gave me pened to me. Suddenly I was surrounded by 40 the chance to be myself. It gave me the chance interns, from 30 different countries, which made to develop myself through developing others.
Day after day I could see the change in the other interns, the students and myself. Between the traffic jams and between the greatness of the city and its culture you could see small parts of the world changing. You could see how all the diversity from the beginning turned into one big family-like group of people, where everyone had his role and was accepted and admired for who he was. Now after I came back I can really say that I miss the city, I even miss the traffic jam, I miss the food, I miss the roll calls, I miss the Bosphorus, I miss travelling from Europe to Asia by ferryboat, I miss going to the school, but what I miss the most are the people that I met there. The people who came from all around the world to meet on the two continents which are united by Istanbul and the people who waited there for us and made us feel at home. It is really strange how after the 6 weeks of Myself My World we left with a baggage full of tears, happiness, broken stereotypes, new ideas, knowledge of a new culture, a great experience, a second home and friends for life. It is really hard to describe this experience in words, but what I can say is that now I can speak about a life before and a life after the Myself My World 2013 in Istanbul, the city which managed to unite not just two, but six continents.

UV President Dear UV, Although there are holidays, let’s not forget that things need to still move in AIESEC and that there are a bunch of people that, although they are not necessarily in Vienna, continue to work and help the organisation. If you are wondering what happened in the last month in Vienna UV, I will give you a short overview of the areas : OGX has continued with the servicing of the EPs and making their experience unforgettable, while also raising and matching, with the help of UR who is doing OGX promotion in summer as well through postering and social media. ICX GIP has matched one TN and realised another one, so soon there will be more interns with us in Vienna, while ICX GCDP is contacting schools weekly for the COW project in autumn. CR is raising for Focus Future , the Y2B organized next semester at BOKU , while also working on getting us a new office (all the best of luck for that Tom !! :D ). TM , COMM and UR are preparing for the recruitment for WS13/14 by preparing JDs for the new members, discussing strategies and setting up the final recruitment plan soon! SU BOKU has become IG BOKU (AMAAA
ZING!!) and are preparing for their first semester as a new entity (and new EB team!). Finance, last but not least, is managing our finances scrupulously, so that we are sustainable for the future and that we have enough money to conduct the international TtT conference this September. Also, this July 13 UV members attended the CEC conference in GyĂśr, where we shared GCPs and experiences with other three countries: Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as witnessed the launch of the new product branding AIESEC in Austria will work with! Last but not least, the organisation of the iTtT is finally working smoothly after a couple of challenges for the OC team and I am really looking forward to this amazing experience with them. Great job to everyone, for working still in spite of the holidays and the various distractions, and I will see you again once I come back (and am still alive) from the International Congress in Egypt !!! With love , Ioana
iGCDP So what happened during the 3 months in ICX GCDP? The big word is “CoW”. During the Central European Conference we have aligned the national project Colors of the World, what means we will have a huge project in Austria which will be organized by all Austrian LCs. It’s a huge step but it also means that all LCs have to work together to coordinate and organize this project. The first round will be in November/December which means there is still a lot going on in order to organize it in Vienna. As WU and UV will both run the project in the same time, there are still operations which will be done together to be more efficient and to have a more professional outlook and a bigger impact in the city itself. After we met the Hungarian delegation in CEC we are also in the process of re-organizing the projects, because the EB changed and again we have to align the next steps. So after a long time of preparation, planning, alignments and calling… it’s time to implement! Dana
COM During the last period the COMM team has continued with planning and promotion of our go-abroad programs with UR. As well COMM has been an active member with the other COMM and MC teams in order to help to develop a friendly, yet appealing branding for our programs to meet the new demands and changes in our student market. Within this, COMM helped to develop the key messages of the products, slogans, names and also helped to create the national camaign for the upcoming TMP recruitment. In terms of TMP, COMM met with the teams of UR and TOM and planned the structure and strategy for the new recruitment, which will involve the whole LC (you aswell =)!! ). Besides that, the COMM team has been working in order to ensure a positive relation with the new partner (Universo APP) and also to continue the meetings with other potential partners (Alpbach and Erasmus Stundent Network). From the PR side, the COMM team was able to establish a press release that will be out on september (prior to the TMP recruitment) and will be about international student organizations!!! From the side of internal cooperations, COMM team with the Help of TOM, delivered some pictures for the next Canadian promotion video, and also established communication with other LCs from Czech Republic and Hungary, in order to learn the best practices from them. Another important point is the development for a training system for Adobe, so all the COMM members have the skills to put their own ideas on paper. Finally, COMM has been working aswell in the preparation of 2 other key events; Global Summer 2.0 and Global Issues.. though fixed dates are not set up yet! Best regards, Andres
OGX In the OGX area we are in contact with our EPs abroad! They are having a lot of fun and creating an impact in their different projects all over the world; in countries like China, Colombia, Turkey, India, Brazil and Japan! Some of them already came back and started sharing their amazing experiences with us. Read further in the newsletter to know more about Anita Theil‘s experience in Istanbul and her story about culture shock. Further on, our MCVP OGX is right now at the International Congress held in Egypt and will start important cooperations for our area for next semester. Aside of these, we also have updates from the Net Promoter Score (NPS): We are increasing the number a lot, which means our EPs are happy with their projects and the experiences abroad, yeay! TLs are preparing hard for the upcoming term and will attend CoCo to get readyyy! Sofia
CR Hey everyone! So what happened with the corporate people during the last few months? Principally, we were handling our accounts, which is including the Uniersity and the mammoth-task of getting an office in the new „Uni Rossau“. It is quite incredible how many different people are involved in the room-management of our university - as of yet, I think I talked to just about all of them. At the same time we are not only still preparing our first event this year, our Focus: Future Forum, which will take place on the 28.11.2013 (save the date!) at BOKU Wien. It will feature different companies and students uniting to talk about one of the most important topics of our time: „Sustainability“. And which will leave our new IG Boku with their first event. But also we‘re already raring to go and start preparstions for our Youth to Business (with it‘s awesome new concept!), which will happen in March 2014! In our commission we discussed further possibilities to deliver value to our corporate patners, which resulted in the development of our „most desirable employer“ - survey. It will ask students about which features make it desirable to work for a certain company and about their actual favored employer. So stay tuned for more amazing stuff to come! Wishing you some great last weeks of summer, T
UR Hey UV! While most people would be at the beach or abroad, I and my team leaders Rebecca and Maria are here in Vienna having meetings and working on our plans for the upcoming semester. From the university side, we got a stand at UniLeben for the 1st and 2nd October, which is perfect for TMP recruitment. And even in summer we still get applications for GO Abroad every week. More updates coming soon! Cheers, Andre
iGIP Hey AIESEC! Greetings from Seattle! I am having an amazing time over here in the States, learning a lot during my 2 month internship with Trident and fully enjoying each and every hour of my weekends. Celebrating on a huge private boat at Seafair 2013 and taking part in the 10km run around Lake Union were just two of my highlights. And some breakin‘ news: It doesn‘t rain in Seattle... well, at least not now in the summer time! I am already tanned like a chocolate cookie! :) And there are amazing AIESEC updates from my side as well: I matched 2 LKW Walter interns within the past weeks! Erika from Slovakia is going to start her internship on September 2nd and Michal from Poland is going to move to Vienna in October! This is what we are working for guys! They will surely have gorgeous experiences in Vienna and we are there to help them feeling like home. So hopefully you are as excited to meet them as I am! Through these two matches we generated about 3000€ for our LC and since there are 3 more face2face interviews coming up, I am very confident to match a third EP with LKW Walter! Wooohooo! What does that mean for us??? Well, first of all financial sustainability of our LC and therefore more cool trainings, events etc. we can provide you with! I hope you are also having a great summer! See you in 6 weeks! Your american cookie, Melli
TOM Hello y’all ! I’m writing you from an authentic suburb of Istanbul. Except enjoying quality time with my family, I was also working on many new things throughout the whole summer together with my new and hot team leaders ! :) Talent Management is changing the structure in our LC therefore we are implementing some new processes. As you might already know, I have 3 team leaders now. Dori remains as AIESEC University Team Leader which I’m so happy about. And we were working on our AIESEC for highschools project during the summer. Since we want to increase the range of our impact we will be also working with highschool students in order to explore new talents and originate the instant-impact which you will get to hear about soon. Jiya is the new Talent Management Team Leader, she took over the position from my dear Silvana, I’m sure she will be as great as she was. Jiya was working on the new coaching system and she came up with amazing ideas. This term, we will be focussing on personalized coaching so everyone will be able to have coaching approaches as they want. Vilyana is the Talent Development Team Leader. She will bring the feedback culture and strategic development back to our local committee and she already has my full trust and support. She was focussing on designed and issue based team buildings. She created a more specifically planned guideline for each functional area’s team buildings in order to build stronger connections among the team members and team leaders.
And except trying to support my team leaders I was also working on a couple of things. My summer started with an advanced transition for new IGVP Talent Management Stefi ! She is more than ready and prepared for our new baby BOKU. Afterwards I was working on the implementation side of the LEAD program in our local committee. So get ready team leaders, you will have an amazing term ! We are creating the strongest team in the LC which is BoL - Board of Leaders for our team leaders. I was also focussed on the recruitment strategies and now we are working on the implementation of these strategies together with Andre and Andres. Right after ITtT - International Train the Trainers - you will get to hear our amazing recruitment plan. I also worked on your job descriptions and thanks to my amazing EB, we were able to create JDs for each position in our LC. I also worked on the development of the talent management area’s processes so get ready for the new things in the LC ! :) Last but not least I’m on the team leader transition process with my team leaders. So even before september they will be ready to work even by their own. That’s all from my side. I hope you are having a great summer and getting ready for the new term. New starts, new cities, new people.. These are all waiting for us, you just need to be ready to let them be in your life. With Love from Hazan.
