Artificial Landscapes

This work is a compilation of photography, between 2009 and 2012. travelling through some places of Colombia (my home country) and other places of the world that I have visited. As humans we have shaped the environment to our benefit and survival, an example of this is the ancient humans that created tools in order to hunt animals and collect fruits and plants, evolving to the agriculture and from caves to build houses and buildings. But since the industrial revolution to now days, we have change dramatically our environment to the point of shape the entire reality to what we think is better. The series are an observation of how we have un-naturalized nature and adapted as real all the artificial spaces that we have created and in which we feel safe and powerful. That’s why the use as metal as printing material, because it comes from nature, but we have shaped to our benefit and has being the material that we had used for the transformation of nature from the gathering and hunting tools, to the most technological tools and devices of the XXI century. This series are not an attempt of a transgression to our beliefs or the way we live, rather than that is the search of an esthetic and narrative language of our human behavior, a space that human has created, but is not present in most of the compositions, like if we have never touched it, a parallel in between the beauty of nature and the artificial landscapes.
