An extract from Jean Baggott's book The Girl on the Wall, published by Icon Books. The book is centred around Jean's hand-sewn tapestry of 73 interlocking circles all about her life, and each chapter sees Jean expend of what she's sewn, drawing from her incredible memory a vivid picture of life for an 'average' British woman living in the latter half of the 20th century in the West Midlands.
