Endemic species

“We used to drink from this waterâ€? said one of the fishermen. Where once different kinds of animal species lived around the river, years of negligence have ruined Vardar and the enviroment around it. Mario Kaev

Drachesburg Street dogs they don’t have everytime food to eat and sometimes they get aggressive and barking to loud when someone is going/walking on the street. It is very scary and stresfull, fearful to the people. Cars parking on the sideway, it is very disturbing for the walkers, they must go on the street where is dangerously with traffic cars and buses. In my cartoon, I present how two people walker plaing chess sitting on the cars, one is holding pawn in his hand, like a symbol of walker.

Bojan Budzarovski 23 years, dentist I see Dracevo as a very calm, picturesque and nature friendly place. Little bit conservative, but very diverse, full of unique people that are waiting for their chance to leave a creative mark to the city. A bit of urbanisation and the puzzle is done.

Wishes

Still lots of school-age children who are from the Roma nationality are not attending school even though primary education is free of charge. These kids wishes are humble and ones that are easily turned to reality but not for them...yet

A creative approach on Skopje

During Skopje Design Week students of the Faculty of Art & Design of the European University Skopje spent a week exploring Skopje neighbourhoods and local topics from different perspectives. The participants developed themes and concepts referring to the neighbourhood based on social issues, personal experiences, and visual language. Design thinking, design skills, and public participation are key tools and drivers for this project. They are all used as the methodology to explore, analyze, visualize and respond to the neighbourhood’s life and its people. The workshop aims to encourage social change-makers within this community. Once sensitised to their social and cultural context, participants are encouraged to take an active and responsible role towards a complex urban environment they live and work in. A big thank you goes out to all who made this project possible: Macedonian-German Association for Friendship and Cooperation, Goethe Instiute Skopje, Skopje Design Week, Faculty of Art & Design of European University, of course, to all the student participants. The social design workshop is an initiative from andrews:degen, a researchbased graphic design agency located in Amsterdam. For all the results check www.mappingthecity.com
