“Anointed content is in the hands of the preacher. Anointed flow is in the hands of the interpreter.” - Minister Marco

Building up a bilingual church is one of CCC’s visions. Since its foundation in 2010, CCC has been serving God and people in bilingual (Chinese and English). We praise the Lord to have two faithful servants (Ellen & Alice) in our interpretation team, setting as positive role models for us in CCC. In 2012, we have set up an Interpretation Team as some brothers and sisters have been equipped up and made ready in the ministry. Indeed, we are thankful to Minister Marco who has taken time and effort to help us understand relevant interpretation skills and the truth in our ministry. We deeply believe our interpretation ministry has been given

the anointing power from God to serve Him while delivering the Word of God.

Be surrendered as a servant in obeying the Great Commission of our Lord (Mark 16:15)

Q1: How do you feel about the Interpretation Team of CCC? Ellen: For my personal views, as CCC is a bilingual church in English and Cantonese, the team is wonderful and all members have a willing heart to serve the Lord. All members are good but there is room for improvement. In a general view, as long as you have a good command of the target language, you take advantages in interpretation. Nonetheless, in a micro view at the biblical interpretation, it is an anointed ministry. A faithful interpreter is an anointed person who is chosen by the Lord to handle a specific task of delivering the speaker’s message to the assembly according to the will of the Lord.

Q2:

How to be a good interpreter?

Ellen: Frankly speaking, it is better to be a faithful interpreter in the ministry. The cardinal point of the interpretation is whether you are guided by the Spirit to present the message in the presence of the Lord. That is to say, let God control over your speaking for His will. You are the Lord’s faithful representative to speak on His behalf and pour out His Spirit upon the assembly. You help people open their ears to listen carefully to the Word of God. Eventually, the whole assembly may be led by your message towards the way wherever the Spirit leads them to go.

As to the majority of my interpretation, the target language is in English that is not my mother tongue and I have to be aware of the different cultures, avoiding cultural shocks. Good preparedness and wide-ranging knowledge are essential to accurate interpretation to the glory of the Lord.

Alice: We are all doing our best to achieve what is best in serving the church in a bilingual service. To be a good interpreter is to familiarize with what we should do while we are interpreting, and it is important that we fill ourselves with the very Word of God, we need to prioritize in our life on searching and studying the Word of God - the Bible. The anointing Alice: We are all amateurs; not really capable but just have of God will fill us if we are in service for His glory. So it is very important serving hearts to our Lord. We are also blessed to be given this to prepare our heart, mind and soul in serving the almighty God. We must chance. The interpretation team has been elevated in a higher be loyal to our Lord and let Him be glorified. level since last year. This year, I feel interpreters are getting “Christian Interpreter is a ministry not an Occupation.” mature. Preparations are more careful and detailed. We must - Minister Marco adhere ourselves to our Lord to gain more power and wisdom. This is not merely a task, but a ministry. We must study the Bible more, be familiar with more verses; know the world's news; improve our language skill and broaden our knowledge.

Q3:

However, there are so many things to be corrected in the sense that all members who want to be interpreters need to have a heart of readiness in time of need. We can only correct our mistakes by truly humble in our heart and we must truly recognize that we are serving the Most High. With that we can feel the anointing of the Holy Spirit when we are serving in the ministry.

Ellen: God searches man’s heart and if our work of interpretation is pleasing to the Lord, we are good enough. Yes, it is not by might, not by power but by the Holy Spirit. It is of paramount importance of having a humble heart to learn and blend the two entirely different languages in delivering the message so as to flow with the Spirit together with the speaker in same mind and same mouth.

牧者與教牧同工的話

Do you think you are a good interpreter?

In fact, interpretation of the speaker’s sermon is not an easy job. We should look to the Lord’s instructions since man is small as dust on earth with human boundaries and language barriers. More prayer for the biblical interpretation will result in more power in achieving insights to deliver the speaker’s message, just as what God actually wants to say.

When facing a battle of interpretation for the ministry, I trust God is my defense. God will empower me and watch over me to be His faithful messenger in delivering a true and correct understanding of the speaker’s message in another language in a quick and smooth way.

I deeply believe eager prayer and regular bible study have merits of In other words, you have to stay united with the speaker in the Spirit for being an effective prayer as well as an effective interpreter. So “praying an amazing preaching to the honor of God. Indeed, a good interpreter is in earnest” and “hunger for the Word of God” will help enlighten my a good preacher. mind and fix my focus in the presence of God, or else I will easily be at sea in the course of interpretation. Whenever I have an assignment from Minister Yu to be her interpreter, I remind myself of taking up two powerful weapons: “to pray” and “to Of course, I agree an interpreter may observe to know something about prepare” to the battle. everything under the sun. I need to watchmen stand guard in vain. be well-equipped with well-prepared weapons – be ready to His glory. An effective interpreter can be a strong warrior. True, this is my goal to become a faithful interpreter as God said in Philippians (3:12-14):Not that I have already obtained all this, or have Alice: As I have said, we are just starting and we pray that God will already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which lead us in His way - lots of things to learn and to improve. Christ Jesus took hold of me. I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining Q4: As being one of the members of the Interpreter toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Team, is there any goal you want to achieve in the future?

So let us do our best and God will do the rest with amazing grace to us.

Ellen: I think of the book of Joshua, in particular, about the Lord’s Alice: My goal is to continue to serve my creator; as long as I can be instructions in chapter one. To be an interpreter of the Word of God is a big successful interpreter for expanding His kingdom. If you are strong and blessing that not all people can have. So for those who are called for courageous and careful to obey the commands of the Lord, you will be this service have to take it seriously that they cannot change the successful in everything you do.
