INTERVIEW Misael Elias Lopez

Author: Cristóbal Capiz Orozco All those who have been in that stage in which they must choose which university career they are going to have a sense of intrigue of how it will be. Listen to the experiences and testimonies of someone who is pursuing that career might be helpful to be able to decide. Then we will see an interview with the student from Mechatronics at CETYS University Misael Elias López. Interviewer: What made you choose this career? Interviewed: What most determined me to choose this career was my liking for electronics and mechanics, I could not decide which one I liked the most, and in mechatronics integrated both of them and that's why I chose it. Interviewer: Why this career and not another? Interviewed: That brings me back to the above, I could not choose between them, although right now I would have chosen electronic cybernetics, even so, the integration of mechanics I saw very important if I wanted to get into something related to making robots. Interviewer: Did you have any other options? Which one? Interviewed: Electronic cybernetics or IDGD (Ingeniería en Diseño Gráfico Digital) Interviewer: In general how has your experience been in the career? Interviewed: I really liked the race itself, the teachers are very difficult at times, but they have guided us a lot and taught a lot, it has been a very good experience, obviously there are teachers who you dont like, because in the class they become very difficult. But overall very good, I really liked it, I do not have a big complaint. Interviewer: How long have you been in the career? Interviewed: Almost 4 years, I going to graduate. Interviewer: What did you like the most? Interviewed: What I liked the most is the part of electronics, the part of digital electronics and analog circuits, what are potencies, electrical circuits, and digital electronics the basics, sequential circuits and all that. I move away from the mechanics. Interviewer: What has been the least you liked? Interviewed: From my curriculum, because the curriculum change, what I liked least is that at the beginning we were very mechanical and we hoped that we were half and half all the semesters, but it was first mechanics and at half-time we started to see electronics, it was a very abrupt change. Interviewer: What skills have you developed throughout the race? Interviewed: Rather like solving the problems, in the part of the mechanics is much inclined to be analyzing how things are solved, they always tell you that there is a methodology of how to solve the problems and from there what is the logical thinking goes to everything What is circuits, digital electronics is pure conbinational logic, sequential logic, circuit analysis follows a methodology, but in circuits you have to think a lot. Interviewer: What does a mechatronics engineer do?

Interviewed: What a mechatronics engineer does is being the part of engineering in control and the integration of mechanical and electronic systems. Control is a fundamental part of what process control is, what makes mechatronics a lot of emphasis. Interviewer: What opportunities exist in Mexico for a mechatronics engineer? Interviewed: From what I've heard there are many. Here in Mexicali most of the companies are requesting mechanics, mechatronics and electic, but usually they go by the mechatronics. And what has been in the field of labor comes from mechanical design, electrical design, and even I planned to go into research and then into teaching, usually in those areas. Yes, mechatronics opens many doors for you. Interviewer: What profile should someone have who aspires to be a mechatronic engineer? Interviewed: Someone who likes to be thinking and who does not feel too lazy to be working hard, because if it is a lot of work from the beginning, forget about the basics as calculation, when you enter already in what is robotics or control systems and mechanical analysis already It's a lot to review. A person should be willing to work and be ready to be thinking a lot. Interviewer: Do you consider CETYS a good choice for mechatronics? Interviewed: With my curriculum no. But I had to see the new plan and that if I recommend 100%, but revising the new plan, all generations back would tell you that they are very jealous of that plan. Interviewer: What is the most difficult thing to study mechatronics? Interviewed: In my case it was the transition from mechanics to electronics, the harder I would say is to see which one you are liking the most, sometimes the one you like the most is better and in my case I did not really like mechanics and It made me more difficult, but in some it is aleves, electronics did not like much and they struggled more. Interviewer: What are your plans when you finish your studies? Interviewed: Get work. Very much in the future what I like is to investigate, what I would like is to make my mastership and doctorate go to what is investigations and after doing all that to be a teacher. Of the others I would say that they would like to work in mechanical design, electrical design and have more position of management, some focus very much on what is to create their own company and to obtain patents and manufacturing. But in my case it is research and teaching. Interviewer: What advice would you give to someone who wants to study this career? Interviewed: If you want to study this race keep in mind that it is as if you had married the career, if you feel that you like it a lot you will enjoy it, if it is difficult for you not to give up in the end you will realize that everyone The professors here are there to help you and give you much desire, it is not if you have the gift, it is not enough to feel like it.
