Today I was reminded of the way people do not accept change even a change that is out of their control. In a meeting people were discussing how it used to be, however, laws have changed and therefore the way paperwork is completed and how audits take place has changed, so systems need to change to be within regulation. Accept things that you cannot change. If it is something that you can change, change it or make a suggestion to those who can change it. Be proactive, not reactive to the change.

Accept things that you cannot change. You cannot change the weather, however, you can accept it. 1/3


If it is raining, accept the beauty of the rain and carry an umbrella. If you said something you regret, ask for forgiveness. It is important to accept the things you cannot change. Some things happen for a reason, some things are unfortunate, some things are things you wish you could take back. Things you have said that you are ashamed of, wish you hadn’t. All the stress you carry in your body, in your mind is a burden. You cannot change the past. Accept, forgive and make the change to improve your future.

Be the change you seek. If you want to change, you cannot just wait and hope that it will happen. Only you have the power to change your situation, change your view and change your life. It is only when you realise that you have that power within you to change that changes take place. It is by your actions towards becoming the person you want to be that your direction changes, your situation changes, and you change.

Leave the situation or change it. Frustration can cause stress and anxiety. If the situation is one you cannot change you need to change your attitude towards it and accept it or leave it. 2/3


I have worked in a toxic environment, where there was bullying taking place. Although I spoke up a few times I could not change the situation. The bullying was getting me down and anxious about my job. It felt like I and my work colleagues were all walking on egg shells. One day I walked into the office and knew I could not stay. I could not change it, I could not stop the bullying. I could not accept it, I tried to stand up to the bully. I did what I had to in the situation. Left.

Accept to change your journey. In life you need to understand that some things cannot be changed, they are to be accepted. You need to understand some things will change over time and some things will change if you change if you are willing to learn the skills needed to be who you want to be. Mindset is everything when it comes to change.
