Stretching your mind will help your brain to solve problems efficiently, alleviate mental burdens, optimize your mind functions, enhance your innovativeness and boost your productivity immensely. How do I stretch my mind?

Each day I go out for a walk in nature and enjoy the beauty around me, this exercises my mind and body but this is not the only thing I do. For many years now I’ve listened to audio books, read books, attended seminars and on-line webinars and practiced gratitude. I learnt that you can’t just listen and read but you need to take action and learn new skills in order to stretch the mind and grow.

Don’t worry yourself; you are in the right place. Here are 5 Tips on creating mindful habits for growth 1. Do away with the negative self-talk Don’t be a prisoner of negative self-talk. Tolerating negative self-talk can lead to self-destruction. Engaging in this toxic habit will only trigger anxiety, stress, depression and low self-esteem into your life. Start by desisting from focusing on negative things that leave you feeling low. Negative self-talk can leave you really frustrated. In fact, it will only make you start second guessing yourself and your abilities. Consider creating mindful habits for growth by turning negative thoughts into positive.

This personally I required to work on as although I displayed a face of positivity I had low selfesteem and found the way out was to change my thinking and turn my negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Again, it is reading and implementing the strategies that I’ve read that have assisted with this.

2. Show gratitude Gratitude is the key to happiness and a healthier life. Feeling sorry for yourself will not benefit your life in any way. Being grateful on the other hand can transform your life in so many beautiful ways. For instance, showing gratitude will enhance your psychological and physical health significantly. Gratitude also helps to promote relaxation, eliminate stress/aggression, improves your sleep, keeps you energized and enhances your inner peace. You have every reason to be mindful and positive in life. In other words, gratitude makes us happier and healthier. 3. Be vulnerable Being emotionally strong does not necessarily mean losing touch with your emotions. On the contrary being vulnerable makes you a better and happier person. Bottling your emotions can be detrimental to your overall health. Be real to yourself and make no apologies for it. Don’t be afraid of being ridiculed, or criticized by those close to you for being vulnerable. Generally, vulnerability enhances your creativity, vision, honesty, and happiness. 4. Be positive minded Entertaining negative thoughts in your mind can be disadvantageous to your psychological and physical health. Make a regular habit of focusing on things that make you happy and motivated rather than on those that cause you anguish. You can eliminate negativity in your life completely by engaging in things that bring your abundant peace of mind and happiness. Don’t hesitate to visit your favuorite places, watch movies, workout, go shopping, read a good book or dance whenever you feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts. Don’t waste your precious time thinking about negative things that occurred in the past. Instead look forward to waking up every new day and make it count. Being positive-minded will boost your energy and enhance the feeling of fulfillment. Follow your passion and you will never go wrong.

As mentioned above have a go to place, a place that you visit that puts you in a positive mind. I like to go for walks where there is a water view by the lake or by the sea but on the days I can’t go out due to a work shift than I have pictures on my phone or short videos of the sea or sounds of nature. These pictures are uplifting and bring me back into the presence of now.

5. Forgive and move on Harboring hatred, resentments, grudges, and anger can totally destroy your life. The best way of stretching your mind effectively is through forgiveness. We all make mistakes or rub others the wrong way without even knowing it. Many are times when we realize about our mistakes after hurting the very people we love. Resultantly, we make amends by begging for forgiveness. The rule is simple. Forgive and you will be forgiven. There is great wisdom in practicing forgiveness in your life. Don’t be a prisoner of accumulative hatred and negativity. Let it go and be happy. In conclusion, learning to adapt, following your passion, using obstacles as stepping stones, challenging assumptions, befriending failure and being grateful can automatically enhance your overall health immensely.
