Harry has a whole wardrobe devoted to tweed, and always ensures he is up to date with the latest fashion of country gents.
Despite being in his early-20s, Harry Charrington has been on the scene for quite some time now, and is known by many as a rather handy floater angler. We caught up with him on Chelmsford Angling Association venue Braxted Reservoir, to see why he is so successful when they are up on the top.
I
can’t remember a time when floater fishing has not had a place in my armoury. I think I was probably
surface fishing for carp before I ever fished on the bottom for them. The fact of the matter is that you can make the fishing so easy for yourself and it soon becomes child’s play. I’m sure that is why I loved doing it as a kid so much. Now let’s put this into perspective; it can be easy, it is not easy full stop. There are times when the carp will be ravenous from the off, and simply firing out a few dog biscuits will have them slurping merrily away while you cast right in amongst them and the bait gets taken within 10 seconds. However, I find it usually takes slightly more thought and effort to achieve top-quality results. Besides location, which is always top of the priority list (polaroids are a must peeps), I would say

COMING SOON Every Bit of Blue The debut book from Frank Warwick
“Many years ago, a long time before the Internet and social media, etc., finding carp waters was mainly a trial and error thing. My starting point was to buy an Ordnance Survey map and explore every bit of blue on those maps. That was four decades ago and in those intervening years nothing has changed. My search for new and exciting waters around the world has never waned while I’ve enjoyed the most absorbing of pastimes, which is fishing for big carp.” Frank Warwick PRE-OR
