MEMORIES OF EVANS
On Monday, July 28th at 7pm. The Town of Evans Historical Society will present a program entitled “Memories of Evans and the Sweetland Family Legacy”. Presented by long time resident, Nanette Clark, the program will include many ‘tidbits’ of Evans/Angola history during the Twentieth Century. Interesting stories of school life and the many businesses in Angola will be included. Also the legacy of the Sweetland doctors will be presented. At one time Evans had three doctors from the Sweetland Family including, Frank, Fred and George all of whom made home visits, delivered babies and created their own medications. According to Edith Anderson, Society Director, “ the session with Mrs. Clark will be very informative regarding early treatments and medications for patients in our area” The public is invited to the meeting at the Evans Historical Society Museum on Route 5 in Evans Center. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

This newest Pictorial Postmark commemorates two occasions - the 175th Anniversary of the Town of Brant as well as the Annual Brant Summer Festival! The Postmark was designed by Brant’s own Rosalee “Tish” Hill and will be available for all local history buffs until July 21st at the Brant Post office. She is employed at St. Mary’s School for the Deaf as a high school science teacher, is a dance teacher at Hoffman School of Dance in East Aurora and is a licensed zumba teacher, teaching in Hamburg, Eden and Angola. The future groom graduated from Buffalo State College with a bachelors in education and has a masters from St. Bonaventure in reading education and was a 2000 graduate from Hamburg High School. He is a teacher at Lake Shore High School and is a member of the Eden Emergency & Rescue Squad. The couple celebrated their engagment at a wine and cheese party hosted by the parents of the bride in Eden with 80 friends and family members. A April 2015 wedding is planned.
