WWII VET TO SPEAK AT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
On Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. Mr. Bill Brudo will present a program regarding his tour of duty during World War II. Mr. Brudo was a member of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific War Zone. His experiences with his fellow Marines include going from island to island as they fought the Japanese, finally ending on Iwo Jima. Mr. Brudo will discuss the many struggles the Marines endured during the war, will bring photos to share and will remind us of our “greatest generation”. According to Joe Pisarski, President of the Evans Historical Society, the program is the society’s annual Memorial Day tribute to the men and women who served our nation. The public is invited to the presentation, admission is free, and refreshments will be served. The program will be held at the Evans Historical Society Museum on Route 5 (Erie Road) in Evans Center.

Eighth Grade Class Takes Trip to Nation's Capital
Town of Evans Employees Recognized for United Way Contribution
On May 1, 2014, the Town of Evans Employees were awarded a plaque by the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County in recognition of their extraordinary effort during the 2013 Annual Campaign. United Way Account Executive, David Wilson, was on hand to present the plaque. Town Supervisor Keith Dash and Director of Community Development Lori Szewczyk accepted the honor on behalf of the Town of employees. Due to the efforts of employees, the Town’s pledges for the 2013 campaign increased 216% from the previous year. The Town’s campaign coordinators stepped-up their efforts to encourage employee giving for the 2013 drive due to the great need in the Evans community. During the campaign, Supervisor Dash sponsored a free lunch (hot dog, drink) for those employees that submitted their pledge cards. Each employee that pledged a contribution was also entered into a drawing for Bills memorabilia - a cap autographed by Buffalo Bill C.J. Spiller and Bills sweatshirts. “The Town of Evans employees are very supportive of the community they serve,” said Supervisor Keith Dash. “Many of our employees directed their financial contributions to services and programs that benefit the residents of the Town of Evans,” he said. Southtowns Catholic School Holds Spring Concert
