Arbroath Signal Tower Museum

Built in 1813, Signal Tower Museum is located near Arbroath’s picturesque and busy harbour and enables residents and visitors to hear the story of the magnificent Bell Rock Lighthouse and its influence on the town’s social and industrial history. The galleries will allow you to explore the Spotlight on Arbroath’s Fishing Heritage’ exhibition as well as the changing displays in our cottage gallery. Visits are also available to the Tower room (booking required). The ground floor is accessible with virtual access to the first floor galleries and tower.

Brechin Town House Museum

Immerse yourself in Brechin’s history and people with a fantastic selection of objects, photographs, and archival material. Displays focus on its ancient beginnings as an ecclesiastical city of great note. Diorama displays include a cleric in the Cathedral Scriptorium and the cattle rustler John Gall, in the ‘Black Hole’ of Brechin.

You can also find out about the Picts, the Jacobites and 20th century history. There’s also a miniature model of the town, a gallery dedicated to the artist David Waterson and a fascinating collection of Pictish Stones. The ground floor is accessible with a lift providing access to the first-floor galleries. Accessible toilets. Free parking available nearby.

Meffan Museum and Art Gallery

Built in 1898, visitors to the Meffan today can walk between an incredible collection of early carved stones found at ancient sites across Angus.

Immerse yourself in the story of Forfar by wandering through a recreation of Forfar’s old narrow cobbled street, peer inside Peter Reid’s sweet shop, a clockmaker’s workshop, and see the baker who was famous for Forfar Bridies. Finally step into the crowd staring at the horrific 17th century trial of a witch. Two large galleries are devoted to art exhibitions. The ground floor is accessible with a lift providing access to the first-floor galleries

Kirriemuir Gateway to the Glens Museum

The Town House | 32 High Street | Kirriemuir | DD8 4BB

This award-winning museum celebrates the history, culture and natural environment of the ‘Little Red Town’ and the western Angus glens.

On the ground floor we look at the town’s history, including the origins of Kirriemuir’s name, its history as a weaving town and famous Kirriemarians such as the creator of Peter Pan; J. M. Barrie and rock star Bon Scott. Upstairs the people, natural history, geology, legends and archaeology of rural Glen Prosen, Glen Isla, Glen Clova and Glen Doll are explored. A wildlife diorama brings the visitor face to face with some of the wilder inhabitants. The ground floor is accessible with virtual access to first floor.
