Crombie Country Park: Monikie, Angus, DD5 3QL

There is plenty to do at Crombie Country Park. The park has a wide range of walks and trails suitable for both walkers and cyclists. Wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers can check out the accessible ponds and the bird hides and squirrel feeding area. Picnic and BBQ facilities are available. Dogs, under control, are welcomed all year round except in the children’s play park. Please observe signs for restrictions.

Forfar Loch: Craig o’ Loch Road, Forfar, DD8 1BT

Walk, run, cycle, horseback, there are many ways to enjoy Forfar Loch Country Park. The circular route around the Loch is 4 kms (2.5 miles) long. Rangers run a nature club for children every second month. Let the children explore the local wildlife and a variety of habitats in the Wildlife Garden. They can also play in the children’s playpark. There are plenty of picnic tables and seating to enjoy the park and stop for refreshments. Dogs, under control, are welcomed all year round except in the children’s play park. Glen Doll Visitor Centre: Glen Clova, Kirriemuir, Angus, DD8 4RD

A Visitor Information Centre with wildlife, botanical and landscape interpretation lying in a Special Area of Conservation in the southern Cairngorms National Park. This is a fantastic starting point for further exploration of the outstanding scenery of the Angus Glens home to iconic Scottish wildlife such as Red Deer, Golden Eagles and Red Squirrels. Short way marked walks and routes leading to Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve, Munros, Braemar, Lochnagar and Ballater all start here. Dogs, under control, are welcomed all year round. Monikie Country Park: Panmure Rd, Monikie, Angus, DD5 3QA

Monikie Country Park boasts beautiful woodland and parkland with a variety of things for the family to see and do. Monikie Country Park’s many attractions include adventurous land and water activities, selfled trails, marquee and BBQ hire and an adventure play park for the kids. Adventurous activities available within the park include: team building, rafting, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and mountain biking. Qualified staff are available for sessions and RYA courses, watersports equipment can also be hired throughout the summer in the park. Denfind Bird Sanctuary, with its bird hides, is an ideal place to view a wide variety of wetland birds throughout the year. Montrose Basin: Rossie Braes, Montrose, Angus, DD10 9TJ

Just minutes from the centre of Montrose, this unique wildlife attraction combines the sights and sounds of birds such as kingfishers, ducks, geese, and mammals including seals and otters, with a host of childfriendly activities within the Visitor Centre. The Basin, the estuary of the South Esk, covers 750 hectares, is a site of international importance for visiting and resident birds. As well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the reserve is a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR) giving greater recognition and protection to its wildlife.
