On behalf of Castlerock Marketing it is, indeed, an honor to be able to manage the LONGEST RUNNING Angus sale in Canada. When the call came this spring I was immediately excited! In early July when I was touring Ontario selecting the cattle for the sale one couldn't help but be impressed by the cattle as they were enduring one of the driest summers on record. I always have found that while droughts are something that nobody wants to experience, on the other hand it forces the cattle to rise above the challenges and the good cattle will always rise to the top. The good cattle are exactly what I was looking for and came out with for the sale. The offering consists of a great cross section of fancy heifer calves that have the look to show and the genetics to work as top mother cows. The bred heifers selected are quite powerful and carry some interesting services that will undoubtedly pay off with their resulting calves. Anchoring the offering are the cows - proven matrons that are sound, quality cows that will continue on in their production being a top investment. With the stock market being all over the map, these cattle that are being offered in the Bluewater Sale will be worth the chips. The Bluewater Sale has a rejuvenated look and we know you will be impressed with the offering. As always the cattle coming out of this sale will work for their new owners. Join us Friday evening to a viewing of the sale offering. Saturday a complimentary lunch will be served with donations being accepted that will go towards the Juniors to help fund the various activities that benefit these young people in so many ways. Should you be unable to attend the sale but would like an honest evaluation on the sale cattle feel free to give myself or any of the sales staff a call. Your best interests will be served in the animal the meets your needs. See you sale day! Shane Castle Castlerock Marketing
WELCOME FROM THE Blue Water Club On behalf of the board I would sincerely welcome you to the longest running Angus Sale in Canada. This is the 65th Blue Water Club Sale. The sale committee this year wanted to put a bit more emphasis on sound replacement cattle with good pedigrees, while not forgetting the commercial breeder’s needs. We believe that this has been accomplished with this offering today. Believe me it was hard to pry these cattle out of the consignors’ herds because they are herd building animals. We need to thank the consignors for their work in preparing the cattle for offer this afternoon. The beef industry is in constant change but here is one aspect that doesn’t change and that is the Angus breed’s ability to efficiently convert feed to profit. High feed costs this year are going to demonstrate this very efficiency. Whether you are looking today at calves, bred heifers, or cows this offering this afternoon will perform for you. To you, the purchaser, we would like to thank you for your confidence in the sale and wish you the best with you new acquisitions! Dennis Bridge - President

Sired by Bismarck and exuding feminity throughout, this powerful January heifer calf is one of our favourites. Her dam, our first heifer purchased in 2008 when we started our Angus herd, has done anything but disappoint. 6S is pictured here and, as you can see, her deep body, length and incredible udder are all traits that her daughter is going to possess. With the pairing of Bismarck, 3Z will be a force to reckon with in your herd. Don't miss this opportunity to grow your herd. Halter broke & ready to show whether your are a Junior or just an Old Fashioned Angus enthusiast.

Rose of Peak Dot 643T, $18,000 half interest high selling female of the 2010 Peak Dot Ranch sale to Boss Premier Cattle (Chappell, NE), has been described as the perfect blend of femininity, balance, shape & thickness. The Predominant daughters are among the very best producers at Peak Dot Ranch and this eye appealing donor is at the top of that group. HF Prowler 43U is the phenomenal Kodiak son who created quite a stir in the yards at Denver this year. The then $35,000 valued Prowler was discovered in a commercial herd in Western Canada and later syndicated for a $200,000 valuation. He is described as having as much mass, muscle and overall thickness as any bull in the breed, yet he is big footed and super correct in his structure. He has seen heavy use in the U.S and this mating is an opportunity to purchase one of the few, if not only, in Canada.

Bred: May 6 - Willowside Bruno 24X (an Allencroft Bruno son whose calves have always impressed us) The Jilt cattle are hard to beat and have served our herd extremely well. This will be the first Jilt that we have offered for sale and we are excited as we are proud of this Dynamite heifer. 2Y was shown as a heifer callf and placed well in the showings. With four other sisters at home, this medium framed, stylish heifer will undoubtedly catch your eye!

This heifer is a favorite of many visitors this summer. She combines two of our most consistent cow families and her dam, Barbara 18S, is one of our most attractive cows. 69Y’s sire, Winston 14U, has been a highly successful sire for us with sons selling from New Brunswick to Saskatchewan. We highly recommend this heifer.

BLUE WATER ANGUS SALE Cows With Heifer Calves at Side
12X is one of the first Mayflower females that we have sold. We have a nucleus of females that excel in tenderness as identified by DNA testing with Igenity, and our Mayflowers are very strong. Less than half of one percent of Angus cattle score 10 out of 10 for tenderness, and this cow’s mother is one of four progeny from Mayflower 9C that all score 10. We used B.C. Rocket 44 because he is high in tenderness as well, and as a result this 12X cow is an 8 and her calf (also selling) is a 9. We believe the demand for tenderness as the DNA technology advances will be significant and here is your opportunity to be ready when the time comes for those premiums.

CANADIAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION PARTNERS WITH “Cedar Creek Winery”!! The Canadian Angus Association, through the Canadian Angus Rancher Endorsed program, has launched a partnership with Kelowna-based Cedar Creek Estate Winery. Cedar Creek Estate Winery is the first official industry partner in the Canadian Angus Rancher Endorsed program.
Winery president and proprietor Gordon Fitzpatrick says he sees the partnership as a natural fit between great beef and great wine.
The partnership was launched on October 22 at the Gala Event at Red Roundup, an annual celebration of Canadian Red Angus cattle. Approximately 275 people attended the banquet at Westerner Park in Red Deer. “Our partnership allows both organizations to run cross-promotions and cost share, which leaves more money on the table for additional promotions,” says Michael Latimer, assistant general manager of the Canadian Angus Association. “Because this promotional campaign is unique to the Canadian market, it will be far more eye-catching for consumers who have been bombarded with a million advertisements for wine or for beef products, but have never seen promotion for a winery and beef program together.”
“Angus is one of the biggest brand names out there. Everyone knows the name Angus,” Fitzpatrick says. “The story is so important to the brand. We all have an obligation to tell our stories. People want to know where their food comes from. They want to know the story behind it.” The Canadian Angus Association and Cedar Creek Estate Winery have already held two wine and beef tasting events in British Columbia, and consumers have been excited to learn the stories of the Fitzpatrick family’s winery and the Canadian Angus Association’s Canadian Angus Rancher Endorsed program. They were also eager to learn what types of wine fit best with different cuts of beef. The Canadian Angus Association is Canada’s largest purebred beef breed organization. The Association represents 3,000 members across Canada for the purposes of registering and recording the pedigrees of purebred Angus cattle in the closed Herd Book and promoting the breed across Canada. The member-approved mandate is to maintain breed registry, breed purity and provide services that enhance the growth and position of the Angus breed. for more information, please visit www.rancherendorsed.com or www.cedarcreek.bc.ca.
Cedar Creek Estate Winery was specially selected because it is a family owned and operated business that closely aligns with the values of Canadian Angus producers. PAGE 20
