For nearly 60 years now Red Angus has been promoted in Canada by a Mackenzie of some sort. This breed started from very humble beginnings back in 1962 with the very first importation from Wyoming. Ever since then we have bred, fed, sold and guaranteed our Red Angus bulls to you, our customers. The progress we have achieved over the years is remarkable and something all of us here at Brylor Ranch are very proud of! Many things have changed over the years but one thing has remained constant though... our insistence of providing a reliable quality product that is designed to assist in improving our customers’ bottom line. We feel the set of bulls we have put forth in this, our 51st bull sale catalogue, is outstanding. Never before have we been so deep in our pen of long yearling bulls. We have an incredible group of Heifer Bull Prospects and the power bulls will be a sight to see on December 3rd in Fort Macleod.

My slogan for the longest time now has been simply this... These bulls are responsibly fed... responsibily bred... and above all, responsibly sold and guaranteed to our very loyal and steadfast commercial bull customers. You’ll note this year we have included a few pasture photos of some of the Bull Sale bulls. These were taken at home south of Pincher in early September.

Come and join us at Fort Macleod Auction on December 3rd or, if you cannot attend, feel free to call or tune in on DLMS. Yours faithfully in the Red Angus business. Bryan & Sherry Mackenzie & family

Resource 23F is a very cool “purple Angus” (Black/Red Carrier) here. We paid $10,000 for him at the MRL Bull Sale a couple of years back (co-owned with Jeff Fraser). His sire, SAV Resource is one of the most used A.I. bulls in the American and Canadian Angus Associations. We couldn’t be happier with his first calves and will have lots of them next fall. LITTLE ROYAL SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS FOR 2021

My name is Ellie Stauffer and I was a recipient of a Little Royal Scholarship — and very honoured to be one. I was raised on an agriculture operation north of Pincher Creek where we run black Angus cattle and grow hay, barley, and canola. The industry I was raised in is one I want to continue to be a part of in my future, which is why I will be going into my second year of my Agribusiness degree at the University of Saskatchewan in the fall. The opportunities I’ve had so far through the Ag industry (through programs like 4-H and just in working at home) have not only given me many valuable skills, but have also set me up with goals for my future beyond University. While I don’t know what specific career I want to go into once I’m done my schooling, I know I want to be able to be in a position where I can promote the Ag industry in a positive light to consumers. I consider myself very lucky to have grown up with the passion I did for the industry, and to now be able to study it at the post secondary level. As a result, I am very excited to be going into my second year of my degree in the fall.

ELLIE STAUFFER

My name is Cadence Sinnott. I am the daughter of Colette and Curtis Sinnott of Pincher Creek Alberta. I have grown up on a farm near Pincher Station my whole life. The agricultural industry has always been a driving aspect in my life and has helped develop me into the person I am today. As a kid, I was always working with my dad doing soil sampling and driving in the semi-trucks with him. As I grew older, I was actively involved in the Foothills 4-H beef club and that’s when I like to believe my real love for the industry itself grew to be, as there was never enough information or skills I could acquire to feel like I knew it all. Now I realize you can never learn enough about this constantly evolving industry. In 4-H they always put emphasis on “learn to do by doing”, the agricultural industry is about doing just that from sticking your hands in the dirt to showing a steer and getting a mouthful of that dirt. The agricultural industry also provides a community that will stick by your side through all the bumps in the road. Throughout my journey so far, my agricultural family have encouraged, disciplined, supported me and done so much more than words can describe. I am currently enrolled in Lethbridge College in the Renewable Resource Management Program and am planning on pursuing a Bachelor of Agriculture after I finish my diploma. I’d like to thank Brylor Ranch for this scholarship and am looking forward to continuing my journey in the agricultural industry. I look forward to the many opportunities and experiences my post-secondary education will provide me with. CADENCE SINNOTT

ERICA MACKENZIE

Hello, I am Erica Mackenzie. I am currently eighteen years old and have lived on Brylor Ranch in the MD of Pincher Creek all my life. It is here on this ranch I have learned many principles that I consider to be personal core values. The first is the importance of family, friends, and community. The second is the ability and willingness to do the hard work. The final lesson is an appreciation for the lifestyle I have. I don’t think I would have wanted to grow up anywhere else, and no matter where else I might end up, I know where my roots are. Growing up I was committed to 4H. I was a member of two different clubs in ten years. Silver Reins Light Horse Club for four years, and Foothills Beef Club for eight. Holding a variety of executive positions, moving up through the age groups, competing in public speaking, judging, horse and cattle showing at club, district, regional, and even provincial levels gave me a multitude of experience, memories, and life lessons. Not to mention the hours dedicated each year to fundraising, advocating, and volunteering for community service projects. Moving on to the next chapter of my story, I know that all of my experiences in these different areas of my life have been to prepare me for it. Adulthood, post-secondary, and my future careers. With my toe in the water at the University of Lethbridge, on my way to a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education double degree, I have great aspirations of becoming a trustworthy mentor to kids and help them grow like so many others did for me. I will work hard to achieve this, and I’ll remember what it took to get me there. I want to thank all those people/customers that donated to the Little Royal Fund, we as your Ag Youth appreciate it very much.

BLACKBIRD 912G & LOT #1 - GAMEBOY 30J

Pretty special deal here for Sherry and I! This is our 13 year old son’s (Rowan) Red Roundup Futurity project! Since 2019 when we bought Blackbird 192G as a heifer calf at the mighty Red Roundup for Rowan, she’s been great! Rowan has shown her at that event now for the past three years and is gearing up for the 50th Anniversary of Red Roundup in 2022 with her and a Freeway calf at side next year. We don’t normally sell bull calves in the fall but we wanted to feature Gameboy. We will keep him ‘til spring for you and semen test him and assist in delivery at such time when you need him. The sire is a $13,000 purchase from Howe’s in Saskatchewan. We can’t wait to highlight his sons in our bull sale next fall! He has a great look to him with all kinds of muscle. He just may be the best footed bull we have ever purchased!

We have 7 daughters of 49W in our herd, others have topped sales all over the US & Canada. 49W came from the Red Roundup Sale as a heifer calf and we thought so much of her we flushed her 28 times in her career. Embryos have been sent all over the globe and we have 10 pregnancies by her coming this winter. This is her last natural calf as we had to retire her just the other day.

HEIFER BULL PROSPECT! This may be the best calving ease headed bull in our whole pen this year. He is a magnificent with all kinds of shape and muscle all on a smaller frame for years of use in your replacement pen.

Straighten up and pay attention at the start of this, the 51st Brylor Bull Sale on December 3rd at Fort Macleod Auction! If he isn’t in the first pairing of bulls then he’ll damned sure be in the second one! I like this calf a lot... and so have all the visitors we’ve had that have viewed this pen of bulls. He has a certain look and style to him that is very appealing and I am sure he’ll transmit it along in his calves. Muscle is not an issue in this HERD BULL / HEIFER BULL PROSPECT! From the very last embryos we had out of our cherished donor cow, Lakme 70M. We have a full ET sister to 24H in our replacement pen this year. Last year’s high selling bull ($23,000 to Camo in Manitoba) was out of a daughter of Lakme 70M too! 24H’s sire, Rob Roy, was a Denver and Fort Worth Grand Champion Bull.

Unreal kind of a bull here in this Tommy Jack grandson! He will work on heifers and will certainly shine in the main cow herd too! If he were a baseball player he coud play any position on the diamond! Hair, muscle, shape, style, length of body, great headed and a low, low birth weight of 70 lbs.!! All this from a beautiful two year old dautghter of Ghostrider that came to us as a $7500 purchase from Phil’s sale in Saskatoon in 2019.

Last fall we had a female sale in Stavely, AB and it was highlighted by this bull’s maternal sister, 613F. She’s stunning and traded at $30,000 for a 1/2 interest to MAVV Farms of Okotoks. Both 613F and her dam 408C, are in ET work at DRI just like the grandam, 230U, and great grandam, 42G, were too. There’s lots of family history and heritage here ranchers! Study this calf at the sale site and you decide if you’d like to inject some Essence blood into your herd. Coupled up with Freeway, I believe the genetic progress could be massive.

The only Wander son we have this year and he is a dandy one! Wander did a great job following in the shoes of his sire, Hobo 1961. 280H’s dam is an ET daughter of 26T. She raised the Oregon State Fair Champion Female in 2014 and a $12,000 heifer in our female sale last fall.
