to our first Fall Female Sale. We are excited to offer you some NEW GENERATION genetics from a family program that has been breeding Angus cattle for 60 years and 39 years in the Simmental business. We are proud of what we have accomplished and plan to share the top end genetics with you on December 13th.

For those of you, who do not know us, we are a family run operation who makes their living in Agriculture. Our children, Brett and Melissa are the 5th Generation to be involved on this farm, and the agricultural industry.

This sale offering may be the strongest, most consistent set of females that we have ever raised. They are all very deep bodied and structurally correct. We are offering every bred heifer for sale you are selecting from the entire bred heifer crop. We believe strongly in cow families and you will see that as you go through the catalog, these would not be offered for sale if not for this production sale.

Our cowherd is annually culled on feet and legs, performance and fertility, if they do not measure up they are not kept at the farm. You will note that we are selling Red Angus and Simmental females, due to the smaller number of Black Angus females we are retaining all of them this year.

I have had the pleasure of being involved in marketing Mar Mac genetics for several years now. Blair and Lois have deep roots in the purebred beef cattle industry and have raised their children who are now both important players in the operation, solely off agriculture. Welcome from MacKenzie Marketing I am honored and delighted to be involved with Blair and Lois and their family in this fall female sale. I don’t accept many offers to be a consultant anymore as Sherry and I have a young and often very energetic family….but I’ve always been impressed with the ranch just south of Brandon known by all as Mar Mac. These folks and I are very similar in nature as far as cattle breeding and management philosophies go!

I truly do respect and admire their program and love for their family and cattle. They believe whole-heartedly in the value of an AI gun and they know how to cull an animal, instead of making excuses for her!!

When I was touring this summer we had the chance to go thru all of the sale cattle. Welcome from BOHRSON MARKETING Welcome to the highly anticipated Mar Mac bred and heifer sale.

If you go through this set of breds you will find consistence, thick, soggy, broody, feminine fronted, future mama cows. With this set of breds you will find females that will be bull makers. The way these bull sales have been going, you will need more cow power to make those front end bulls, so here they are.

SIMMENTAL 39 years in the Canadian Simmental Breed. In 1976, Mar Mac Farms began in the Simmental beef business by purchasing a package of cows from Bar 5 Simmental. We were extremely impressed with the performance and mothering ability that we then decided to pursue a cowherd of Simmental females.

One of the highlights of the Simmental breed has been Bar 5 Administrator, one of our senior herd sires who went on to become a trait leader for Weaning Weight and Yearling Weight in the Simmental breed for a number of years.

As long time members for 37 years in the Keystone Simmental Association, our females have been merchandised there in the past. The Simmental program was also built around cow families like Carli 14N, 765N, Macho Girl, Nike, Prissy, Patty, and Deb. At our annual bull sale on the farm, Simmental bulls have been selected for performance, easy fleshing and marketability. We have focused our Simmental program on Red and Black Simmental cattle that work for the purebred and commercial industry.

McRae’s have always been involved in the Simmental breed; Blair is currently the Canadian Simmental Director for Manitoba, he served on MSA board for 6 years and was a founding member of the National Young Canadian Simmental Board. Brett and Melissa participated in many Manitoba and National YCS events, was well as showing Simmental cattle and judging at some major shows like Agribition.

RED ANGUS Angus cattle have been a part of the McRae Family history for 60 years.

In 1983, the Red Angus division was started when Blair and Lois got married. We purchased 3 cows from Wayne Heape and then slowly built our program. One of the first females went on to be the dam of Red McRae’s Blazer 336C. We were offered the opportunity to expand the Red Angus program and purchase the Buck Valley Red Angus cowherd. Their outcross genetics have been a strong addition to our cowherd base. Cow families like Frado, Reba, Siera, Lady Trooper, Kerry, Easter, Ruby and more have developed.

Since day one we have worked hard to create a program with calving ease, performance, fertility, new genetics and structural soundness. As we have an annual bull sale these females have to produce bulls that will work in the purebred and commercial sector of the beef industry.

We are proud of our accomplishments in the Angus program; 50 year members of the Canadian Angus Association in 2005 and hosted the 100th Anniversary barbeque at our farm, Lois is past Canadian and Manitoba Director for 12 years, Brett and Melissa were Canadian Angus Junior Board members representing Manitoba, participating in the World Angus Forum in 2009.

Melissa was on the winning team at the Youth Competition in New Zealand. Along with many successes in the showring. Here are some photos of the highlights and we look forward to many more highlights in the years to come.

TERMS Piece of Mind - Livestock insurance will be available sale day from Keystone Livestock Services.

Accidents - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of the buyers, neither the sale staff, auctioneer or Mar Mac assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of an accident or loss of property.

Terms - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable in Canadian Funds. The right of the property shall not pass until after settlement is made. The settlements must be made with the clerks before the cattle are released.

Breeders Guarantee - Cows represented as being pregnancy tested safe in calf have been examined and declared safe by a licensed veterinarian and will be accompanied by a vet certificate to this effect. They are considered breeders without further guarantee. For heifers under 12 months of age and purchased as single lots and who fail to conceive to the service of a bull known to be a breeder, the matter must be reported in writing to the seller before the heifer reaches 18 months of age. The seller shall have 6 additional months in which to prove that the said female is a breeder and may use any registered bull of the breed available to him. Any female returned will be at the purchaser’s risk. No guarantee is given that a pregnant female will deliver live calves or that she will carry calves full term or that the calf carried will not be mummified. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodied after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. At no time shall the liability exceed the sale price.
