The intent of this sale has always been simple, gather the best cattle we can and with that make this sale a source of Angus fellowship to wrap up a busy fall that everyone pours their heart into. Study the offering and it's evident that these breeders are intent in sourcing the top genetics they can find. You will find breed leading genetics from programs that spared no expense to attain what is needed to move their program forward. I always look forward to the pasture tours and when the breeders open up their herds as they want to put their best foot forward it really makes a person's blood flow in excitement. This female is all that I expected and more ,out of Captain Morgan 201X, who we sold through this very sale last year to 66 Ranch at Duchess, Alberta, at $12,500. 5A is a powerful heifer yet carries a classy, feminine look and a great coat of hair to her. The Blackcap cow family has been very good since coming in from the Elliotts and expect the tradition to continue. This is the only Captain Morgan heifer to sell this fall, the rest will be retained as replacements.

We are extremely happy with the Insignia calves we have had over the years as they’ve always been consistent cattle with quality. The proof is in the pudding as a full sister resides at Hamilton Farms as well as Breed Creek. Stout, easy doing, great hair and terrific dispositions describe these cattle. Looking through the pedigree we have the World Famous Tiger and perhaps the most revered Angus cow in recent history, Echo 187N. The Sandra cow family from the Mclean family always does a good job. Maggie 104A was on display in our feature pen during the Angus tour in August. Her sire, Buster 522U, is a good solid Boomer 803B son. Her dam, 323X, is a Typhoon daughter, a feature lot from the Double C female sale last fall. She had an impressive bull calf as a first calf heifer that made the cut and sold in their bull sale last spring. You may notice the dam to 104A is owned by Sierra Cattle Co. (Gordon Murray-herdsman) and leased to me. Gordon and I are a team here and all the cattle here are backed by the WRAZ program!

Lucy 74A is a beautifully fronted, angular female with length and depth of body and a great disposition. She is halter broke and would make a great junior project and an even better cow as there is little doubt this female will make a great one. As you examine her pedigree, please notice that she has two of our main cow families, Princess and Lucy, both on the bottom side – a unique and exciting combination. Her sire, Connealy Imprint, appears to have the ingredients we were looking for. All his EPD’s are in the top 15%. He has performance numbers like weaning and yearling weights in the top 3%.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the first calf crop out of Wilbar Bismark 400Y. The sons are long bodied, with good muscle pattern and profile. The daughters are very attractive just like 322A, with loads of body and substance. Wilbar Lucy 322A comes from a long line of productive females in our herd including her great granddam who weaned another bull for the sale pen at 17 years of age and bred back for another year. You can bet that this heifer calf will add some longevity to your herd as the cow family has to ours.

We purchased Bomber from J&S in the spring of 2012 to infuse the genetics of Tiger into our herd and we have been more than satisfied. Easy doing, great dispositions, hair to match the power and style of these cattle. Just an end of March heifer calf that keeps coming on strong, backed by the good Blackbird cow family that comes from Windy Willows make this heifer a sure bet to make a very good cow.

DISPUTES: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the Auction Stand at sale time, and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A CANADIAN certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement is made. SHIPPING: Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but no risk is assumed by the Castlerock Marketing or the seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement. ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of the buyers, neither the Auction Market, the Sales Manager, nor any owner assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident of loss of property.
10. LIABILITY: Saskatoon Livestock Auction and Castlerock Marketing are acting as agents only and assume no responsibility for representations made by the seller. Purchasers must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made by the seller. 9. BREEDERS GUARANTEE: The terms standard with the Canadian Angus Association shall apply. Beyond that: (a) All animals sold are guaranteed breeders. (b) All bred females have been declared safe in calf by a qualified veterinarian. Pregnant females are guaranteed pregnant a minimum of ninety (90) days. (c) All mature females raised a calf in this year. (d) All calendar year heifers are guaranteed open at time of sale. Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within six months after the date of sale, if, in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying for a period of six months to prove the animal a breeder. The seller, at his option, may either return the purchase price to the buyer or replace the animal with another of equal value in full settlement and satisfaction of ALL claims. Any complaints regarding fertility of any animal in this sale shall be directed to the Contributor. All complaints regarding breeding difficulties must be reported in writing by the buyer to the seller within the time specified above and any animal returned must be free from disease and in good health. Any calendar year heifer calf shown and/or flushed by the purchaser is no longer guaranteed a breeder under this paragraph #9. 12. INSURANCE: Livestock insurance and/or transit insurance will be available. Insurance rep, Larry Toner, will be on-site Sale Day. 13. TESTING: All cattle will be held at sellers’ expense until all necessary health requirements are met.
