fascinating talk last week which scared all the mobile phone users and cordl l e less unw

the meeting. I was especially fascinated at the noise made by the radiation detector when she turned on the cordless phone receiving station. Quite scary the amount of radiation those things use. big thanks to Pri for coming along and sharing with us some of the findings that are not out there in the public eye, despite being out there in the public domain. Fertile ground for all conspiracy theorists who believe big brother is controlling everything. Perhaps in this case they might be right to some extent. his week we will be celebrating the success of our first Cross Country Challenge and thanking the major supporters who we hope will stick with us in year to come. I look forward to Mike Blair’s presentation of the successes and the learning we gained from our first efforts. his past week also saw once again Castle Hill Rotarians helping out by selling white ribbons on White Ribbon Day (25 November every year). More than 60 people so far have died this year in Australia at the hands of people they know well (family or partners) as a result of domestic violence. It seems that despite the national efforts of people like Rosie Batty and the local efforts of the Lisa Harnum Foundation and the Sanctuary to raise awareness of the issues the level of violence (at least the

most serious violence) is not abating. Cleary more needs to be done and clearly the commitment we made to support the Lisa Harnum Foundation and the Sanctuary needs to continue as they support the women of the Hills who are in need of safety for themselves and their children. e have some good news from an Administrative point of view. We have purchased a new PC – thanks are extended to Paul Robinson for his expertise in choosing a suitable machine for our needs. We have also purchased a new version of MYOB – well done Phil Dunn for sorting this out – and so we will now have the latest version of the software which will make correspondence between ourselves and our external accounts a great deal more straight forward for the remainder of this year and into the next. s I mentioned at the meeting last week, we will have to put up with some odd arrangements for our meetings for the remainder of this year but should be back in the Acre Room regularly from February onwards as the Country Club are moving their member nights to Fridays. We were a wee bit cramped last week. lease remember that at the upcoming AGM Paul is looking for volunteers to fill the various board roles that he needs to support him. Existing Board members who wish to continue should let him know. Others who might be considering joining the board for the first time or returning to the board after a break are encouraged to nominate themselves. Of course we are also looking for a President Elect as well so please consider this for the year 2018/2019. You will get lots of support from the members of your board as I have from mine this year. I could not do this job without their great efforts, wise counsel and support. s they say at the end of the Looney Tunes show – That’s All Folks!

After the toast he handed over to President Chris Dunwell.

3. A study some years ago concluded that the average use of a mobile phone at that time for a period of 10 years doubled the risk of developing brain cancer. The average use of a mobile phone for this study was 27 mins per day! (Note: It would be interesting to confirm what the average use of a mobile phone is today).
