From President Mike Hallen
“
Yin dee dton rap” to our Thai international night organized by Phil Davis, and a special welcome to our guest speaker Mr Chatchai Virayawechakun, the consul general for Thailand With over100 attendees it is indeed a tribute to his tenacity and organization skills! I would also like to thank all those who volunteered to form the board for 2016-2017. It has taken a little more time than expected but we now have a board and President-elect Chris can begin to plan his year as President – with the first major actions being PETS on 27th February and attendance by the board at the District Assembly on 16th April at The Kings School. Some other important events coming up in our calendar include: 17th February 2016 – RI 111th birthday celebration and “Thank you” night I know it is not the actual date (23rd February) but this is as close as we will get in our busy schedule. Happy Birthday to us all for WE ARE ROTARY! We shall be thanking all those who assisted us in our recent community service projects painting and deck construction. This will be a great night and your partners and any other guests will be most welcome. 24th February 2016 – Pride in Workmanship Our Pride in Workmanship awards will be presented tonight. Bob Chary has been working hard to get this night organised and our special guests will be Mayor Clr Michelle Byrne and her husband, Matt. Michelle will be inducted into our club as an Honorary member on the night and she is pleased to be present at our awards night. Finally, a big “thank you” to Mike Blair and his team of helpers who helped to construct the deck for Scott Green. The job is almost complete and it will make a significant improvement the quality life of Scott and his entire family, great example of Rotary working in our local community Yours in Rotary

O
ver many weeks since he returned from holidays, the ever hard working ‘Nail Gun’ Mike Blair has worked with a team of Rotarians to build a rear timber deck for Phil & Susie Green to make life easier for wheel chair bound Scott who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. Inspector Rod Chritchlow is the Area Commander for the Hills LAC.
was invited along as he was acutely aware of young Scott’s plight, and wanted to offer moral support not only to us, but also to one of his own colleagues who happens to be the father of Scott.
Work is nearly finished & as the pictures show the helpers who have many talents contributed as chippies etc. Well done Mike & team. This is a great example of Rotary Community Service Phil Davis

Rotary Serving Humanity is the theme for the 2016-17 Rotary year. This was announced to the incoming District Governors for 2016-17 last night at the Rotary International Assembly in San Diego.
The statement on the Rotary.org website says: RI President-elect John F. Germ chose Rotary Serving Humanity as his theme for 2016-17. Noting Rotary’s unique ability to bring together committed professionals to achieve remarkable goals, Germ believes that “now is the time to capitalize on our success: as we complete the eradication of polio, and catapult Rotary forward to be an even greater force for good in the world.” 5
