From President Mike Hallen

C

ongratulation to Ross Hood for yet another in his great series of Youth Nights. The standard of the candidates who addressed us was superb. From what was said I believe that one of the significant elements of their respective programs was the interaction with their peers – even though they now keep in contact using Facebook! Today I met the new manager of Storage King Castle Hill, Phil Clarke. He was interested in our activities and I have invited him to attend any of our meetings. He is a young man (only 48), and still coaches and plays football. His football coaching and playing make Wednesdays a bit of a struggle but after the football season he should be able to take up my offer. Stevan Hay has indicated that he would like to accompany Phil to our club and I will speak to Stevan on his return from Las Vegas. During last week we donated $200 to the Lisa Harnum Foundation. This was part of the funds donated at our BBQs during the year. The LHF had sent out a distress call for essentials required for a mother and young baby who had nothing but the clothes on their backs. Baby clothes, baby formula and clothing for the mother were a priority. We are approaching the business end of this Rotary Year and the Board will be discussing what donations we shall be making from the Project Account. This will be an exercise in value for money as we do not have spare cash to throw about. The Project account had $7620.75 at the commencement of this Rotary Year and we now have $8864.45 in the account (before the Showgate revenue) through the efforts of members at BBQs. The Rotary Foundation, Australian Rotary Health and Shelter box are high on the list for donations. This week we are holding another in our series of Mini Club Assemblies when members have the opportunity to hear form the Board and the Board gets to hear from the members! Please do your best to attend and make it a productive meeting.

Yours in Rotary

President Mike
