D
avid Bull has planned and implemented yet another in his series of “Excellence in Teaching” awards at our Club. Since PP Judy Ford suggested such an award, David has been instrumental in contacting High Schools in our area and seeking nominations from the school executive. This year we had nine recipients – all of them very worthy of the award. A room of 90 or more people made the event a great success. Thanks to David (and I am sure to Lyn as well). Photographer Geoff Duffy was busy taking happy snaps and I am sure he will have forwarded them to Anil for inclusion in this bulletin. The reaction of the awardees and the thanks they directed to our Rotary Club, their families, peers and school executives indicated just how well-regarded this award is by teachers and schools. Long may it continue. I would also like to mention that our Police Local Area Commander, Superintendent Rob Critchlow PHF, has been nominated for the 2015 “Justice Medal” in recognition for his championing of the “Elder Abuse Hotline” and his commitment to combating domestic violence. We all wish Rob every success and I emailed our Club’s congratulations to Rob who replied, “It's a great honour to be considered for such an award. Thanks for your support.” This week we planning to hold club committee meetings at our regular meeting. This is an opportunity for committees to gather and discuss their plans and performance. This will only be successful if each member is able to attend and participate. It may also be possible for Community Service Director, PP Mike Blair, to commence a conversation regarding planning the “Run for the Hills” event and the “Warren Bowden Award”. He needs your support and input. The Lisa Harnum Foundation Inaugural Dinner is being held on 4th June 2016 at the Castle Hill RSL Club. Cost is $120 per person and I would like to get a table of 10 together for the event. Please let me know if you would like to join Roslyn and me and I will give you the registration details. Important dates are rapidly approaching, including District Assembly on 16th April and our Club Changeover on 29th June. District Changeover is on 25th June. Please consider joining me as we welcome DGE Bruce Lakin to the role. Its also “Bowel Care” time again. Kits will be available from participating pharmacies soon at a cost of $15. The program runs from 1 April for two months. Neil Todd is managing this project for us for the last time. We need a volunteer to work with Neil this year to enable a smooth transition in 2017. See Mike Blair to volunteer. Yours in Rotary

uring a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director
"How do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized ?" "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient, and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup." "No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"
ARE YOU GOING TO PASS THIS ON, OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE ?

THE HOSPITAL BILL A man suffered a serious heart attack while shopping in a store. The store clerks called an ambulance when they saw him collapse to the floor The paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had emergency Open heart bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Catholic Hospital. A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard Loaded with several forms, and a pen. She asked him how he was going to Pay for his treatment. "Do you have health insurance?" she asked. He replied in a raspy voice, "No health insurance." The nun asked, "Do you have money in the bank?" He replied, "No money in the bank." Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?" asked the Irritated nun. He said, "I only have a spinster sister, and she is a nun." The nun became agitated and announced loudly, "Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God." The patient replied, "Perfect. Send the bill to my brother-in-law."
