T
hanks to Ross Hood who came up with the goods last Wednesday when he held another of his “notorious” quiz sessions - this time on the subject of ANZAC. Congratulation also to Bob Chary who won the quiz with a score that was significantly higher than most others who participated. I am sure he enjoyed the white wine offered as a prize. Please note the changes in the Club Calendar that are announced in this bulletin (and the associated Duty Roster) with particular mention of the Extraordinary General Meeting that will be held on 4th May 2016. Please try to attend the EGM and make your vote count as we seek member’s approval to submit the delayed 2013-2014 audit report to the NSW Department of Fair Trading and consider another important matter – the requirement for our club to have a Child Protection Policy. I have emailed the proposed policy with an explanation to all voting members for their information so that they may be informed before the EGM. The list is going round for our changeover meeting on 29th June and I hope that you are able to attend with your partner and any others who may be interested in joining us. Secretary and Attendance Officer, Geoff Duffy, will be most pleased to hear from you (as will I and PE Chris!). Following an enquiry by Phil Dunn, I have received a letter from Geoff Wilbow, Past President, Rotary Club of Sydney, who advised that our donation to the Drought Appeal organized by the Rotary Club of Sydney had been received and was appropriately applied to those in need of assistance. The letter is included in this bulletin for your information. Krissie Webb is our Guest Speaker this week and her topic is most appropriate – how to recruit younger members (a relative term in our case I must admit!). Krissie comes from a Rotary family with both her mother and father active members of the Rotary Club of Rouse Hill where her father Robert is the current President and mother Vicki holds down the roles of Conference Chair and Membership Director. Yours in Rotary
President Mike

Notes of the Castle Hill Rotary Club Meeting 20th April 2016 By Chris Dunwell
P
resident Mike Hallen opened the meeting with a reminder hat this week we were celebrating the ANZACs and the upcoming ANZAC Day. He noted that the RSL has been in existence under one name or another since about 1921. They look after returned service people and there is also Legacy, whose role is to look after the families of those killed in service of Australia. And of course these great institutions are still active as we have recently had causalities in Afghanistan.
Phil Davis reminded everyone that there is a barbecue at Bunning Castle Hill on Saturday with good support from members and we are looking forward to a good event. Ron Marcus advised members that he and John Barker visited David Summerlad. If other members would like to visit please call his wife Joan prior to visiting to make sure he is well enough to receive visitors.
As usual the Sergeant told a joke and fined the Geoff Duffy reminded everyone that the change- members. Bruce Allen thanked everyone for attending the Polio Movie Night. Some 165 people attended including 36 from our club and in total about $1,400 was raised including about $300 from our members. There have been 10 cases so far this year from the wild polio virus and therefore the end for Polio is very close. Bruce asked members to think about their contributions personally to the Foundation and to be a member of the Centurion Club ($100) and to consider leaving a bequest to the foundation. Mike Blair reminded everyone that we have agreed to run a barbecue on 30 April in Heritage Park for the Relay for Life group. It runs from 10 till 2 and will be serving approximately 50 sausages. Two more volunteers are needed.
