Orphan Support Program:
Sponsor A Child. Create A Future If the total number of orphans around the world were to make up the population of a country, it would be ranked the 9th most populated. The UN has estimated that 153 million children are orphaned from losing one, or both, of their parents. For as little as $30/month or $365/year, sponsored children receive school tuition, supplies, pocket money, annual medical screenings, and character-building psychological support. Sponsoring donors receive educational progress reports, medical reports, and correspondence from their orphan.

In Kind Gifts Program:
Smiles Across The Miles HHRD recognizes the struggle, pain and anguish of those who have lost everything due to civil unrest, natural disasters, poverty, displacement and lack of opportunity to receive even basic necessities. This reality motivated the development of our In-Kind Gifts Program which has been saving and enhancing the lives of millions of people since 2008. This year 160 containers, valuing at approximately $23 million, have been sent to Jordan, Lebanon, Kenya, Somalia, Somaliland, Tanzania, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh to help a collective total of 20 million Syrian, Palestinian, Somalian and Rohingya Refugees as well as, needy local families. In-Kind Gifts are donated goods and services rather than monetary donations. HHRD regional offices conduct local In-Kind Gift drives which allow community members to play an active role in humanitarian relief through either donating useable items, or their time. Every effort is taken to ensure that donations are given to beneficiaries in a dignified and respectful manner. HELPING HAND FOR RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT

Matching Gift Partners Program: https://hhrd.org/mgdp
Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. It’s an easy way to double your contribution to our organization! Companies prefer transparency, so matching donation requests must be initiated by the donor / volunteer. You can do this by completing a donation match form provided by your employer, or through an electronic submission process. Please search the link provided above for company specific information. Many corporations match employee donations to our organization, thereby allowing us to double the amount of support we can offer those we serve. If you volunteer with us, your employer may also provide us with a grant, as a way to recognize your ongoing support. Make sure to check with your company to see if they offer these programs!
Since 2005, we have raised approximately 2.2 million dollars through our matching gift program.
Youth Empowerment Program:
Water For Life: HHRD helps people gain access to clean water for daily consumption and irrigation purposes through construction and rehabilitation of water supply schemes. Within these past 7 years, this program has improved access to clean drinking water and sanitation for over a million people. In 2018, the installation of 270 deep water wells and 300 toilets helped 28,500 Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, 10 water projects helped 5,250 people in Nepal, 8 water projects helped 5,000 in Afghanistan, and in Jordan, HHRD installed 100 restrooms that helped 500 Syrian and Palestinian refugees, as well as local Jordanians. For refugees in Lebanon, 100 rest rooms were installed in three regions helping 500 people in need, as well as 5 water wells that will now provide clean drinking water for 1,250 people. On the African subcontinent, HHRD has ongoing WASH projects of latrines and hand washing areas in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, and Tanzania that have helped 125,206 people.
This year, 65 interns were chosen from over 200 students who applied to our Summer Internship Program to work along HHRD USA staff in our 13 regional offices. For the first ever Youth for Africa program, 25 youth spent a week of their winter break in Nairobi, Kenya under the mentorship of Imam Siraj Wahhaj, and worked closely with HHRD’s Africa team to visit orphans, schools, build new water wells, distribute food, and help with cataract eye operations. For the 4th annual Youth for Jordan program a record number of applicants, 33 girls and 22 boys, spent a week of their summer break in Amman, Jordan alongside Shaykh Omar Sulieman and comedian Jeremy McLellan. They worked closely with the HHRD Jordan team to spend time with orphans, at schools, visited Syrian and Palestinian refugees, distributed food packages, and delivered restrooms to the most vulnerable.
Seasonal Programs: This global program allows families facing hardship the opportunity to enjoy the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha by sharing a warm meal together. Through Ramadan food packages, gifts on Eid-ul-Fitr and meat on Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims across the globe partake in the festivities. In total, HHRD performed the Udhiya of 3,330 goats and 11,912 cows, which allowed 15,242 shares to be distributed in 52 countries. This program also provided food packages, based on local prices, for families in 38 countries and regions with items to last the month. HHRD Jordan's Annual Ramadan Tent served Iftar to 80 families, averaging about 400 individuals per day.
Winter Provisions Program: The United Nations has estimated around 150 million people worldwide are homeless while 1.6 billion lack adequate housing. Countless families begin the winter praying they will all remain alive once it has passed. Through your generous cash donations this program aims to provide warm clothing, bedding, heaters, and nonperishable foods to help families brave the winter months. Help families in: Bangladesh, Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Kashmir Valley, Pakistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Afghanistan, Jordan, and Lebanon.
Aqeeqah and Sadaqah Program: HHRD has resumed this program at the request of our generous donors. HHRD accepts donations on behalf of donors who wish to thank Allah SWT at the birth of their newborn by performing the sacrifice of goats or sheep in various parts of the world. This meat is then distributed among the poor and needy in the preferred country of the donor. HELPING HAND FOR RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT
