CREATIVE DESIGN As a creative designer with a background in textiles, patternmaking, illustration, and aesthetics, you’ll bring details and creative energy to the design process. You’ll find inspiration from current fashion and art trends as well as everyday objects.
As an Apparel, Merchandising, and Design major, you will build a comprehensive base of knowledge about textile and apparel products, merchandising and marketing strategies, product development, and production processes. You’ll further define your career path by choosing from speciallydesigned programs of study in Design or Merchandising. No matter which option you decide on, you’re taking a step toward a future in an exciting and ever-changing career field.
Merchandising and Textile Design Strategies If the role marketing plays in the industry is an interest of yours, the merchandising program of study may be for you. Students in this option apply marketing strategies and entrepreneurial practices when buying, displaying, promoting, and selling products.

TECHNICAL DESIGN In the technical design option, you’ll build an understanding of industry assembly methods and quality assurance standards, which enables you to take the creative vision for a garment to the next level. Your trained eyes will uncover differences in fabric coloration, performance, cost, and quality. RODUCT DEVELOPMENT In the product development option you'll learn the impact that market trends and business demands have on the creation of merchandise. You will be prepared to plan, create, and present apparel products that meet both the designer’s and the target market’s needs. PRODUCTION AND SOURCING MANAGEMENT Choose the production and sourcing management option and study the impact apparel manufacturing has on the global fashion industry. Our students explore the latest technology used to develop and assemble garments in mass quantities. You will learn the fundamental processes of production, including sourcing materials, timing deliveries, and managing cost.
