Hostelling International Slovenia Hostelling International Slovenia (HI Slovenia) is the only national representative of Slovenia in the International Youth Hostel Federation (Hostelling International – HI). HI is a non-governmental and non-profit organization active in about 90 countries in the world. The organization works closely together with UNESCO (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WTO (World Tourism Organization) and other important international organization – also it was proclaimed the sixth largest organization that offers overnighting. With 4 million members it is one of the largest youth organizations in the world and is the only network of youth hostels with about 4.000 objects for spending the night, 1.5 million beds and 30-40 overnight stays annually. HI has high standards for youth hostels, based on the treatment of the guests, security, cleanliness and privacy. But it is not its only role. Since it was established in 1932 it encourages young people for better intercultural understanding through informal education and peace, global friendship and environmentalism. The international organization, with a strong support of its national members, it offers interaction among youth of various nationalities and cultures, exchange of experience, getting to know their peers and after all themselves. For this the organization has international programs for youth, above all the ones with lesser chances, through which we spread the mission of Hostelling International, which remained the same since 1932: To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as ancillary thereto, to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinctions of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad. PZS, with more then 40 hostels around Slovenia, ensures safe, budget friendly and quality boarding for all types of groups. This includes the educational field trips with various themes (history, art or language courses) as well as extracurricular activities for schools, students, sporting and other groups – or simply friends who want a joint active holiday. All Slovenian hostels meet the international demands, with most of them having special offers for the groups: • Private rooms for group leaders and drivers • Bus parking • Study rooms, game rooms and joint areas • Ensuring full meals and possible lunch packets • Personal that understands the needs of any group Hostels are placed as well in the urban centres as in nature, but all can be perfect base for discovering the country side. Hostel Alieti is a quiet, cozy property in the heart of historic town center of Izola. It is a city that lives all the year around. With its good bus connections Izola is a great starting point to explore Slovene coast and its cities. Hostel Alieti are situated near Izola’s main square Trg Manzioli, 100 meters from the sea, 500 meters from Izola’s town beach at Svetilnik and 300 meters from the bus station. We offer 25 beds in small dormitories on three floors. The bathrooms are situated on the first and second floor. Reception is on the ground floor, where you will also find a common room with a kitchenette. Hostel Alieti in Izola has 5 mixed (4 / 5 / 6 beds) dormitories, 2 bathrooms and a common room with a fully equipped kitchen. Hostel has air conditioning and free WiFi. 24-hour key card access to the hostel. We welcome groups for up to 20 guests. Being situated in the historic centre, hostel is not suitable for loud parties. Groups should show respect for the neighborhood.

The surroundings of the Hostel Izola lies in the middle of Slovenian coast, 20 kilometers from Croatian border on one side and Italian border on the other side. Great walking and biking trails in the backland, summer catamaran connection to Venice, art film festival Kino Otok, people proud of their natural heritage: olive oil, vines, sea food‌ Izola is a great starting point to discover Slovene coast either with bus or on foot/by bicycle. Local sights and attractions Manzioli square and the Church of Marija Alietska Manzioli square with the church of Maria Alietska is the scene of summer festival events. Manzioli square is a venue for summer festival events, including the International Cinema Festival Kino Otok, when the market turns into an open-air cinema. The square is named after one of the oldest buildings Izola Manzioli palace, built in the 1470th. Even older is the design of the church of Saint Mary, which separates Manzioli square from Izola inner harbor. The church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary was built in the 11th century. Alieti Hostel is located near the Manzioli square. Town beach “Na Svetilniku” Izola town beach is called by the locals “Na Svetilniku”, meaning “At the Lighthouse”. Nice beach is partly sandy, partly rocky. Trees in a large park offer a refreshing shade. The beach has no entrance fee. This is the place where kites and surfers gather on windy days. Beach “Na Svetilniku” is 400 meters away from Hostel Alieti.
Ambasada Gavioli – best electronic music parties Ambasada Gavioli is one of the best known clubs in Slovenia and its surroundings for techno music, as well as house music. A wonderful ambience hosts the world-famous DJs like David Guetta, David Morales, Chris Liebing, Carl Cox, Bob Sinclar, Eric Morillo, etc. Ambasada Gavioli is the right location for all fans of electronic music. From the hostel Alieti to Ambasada Gavioli there is a 15 minute walk.
Fishing town Izola is a fishing town, not only with excellent fresh fish on plates, but also for lovers of fishing and sport fishing. When the season comes you will find mullets, sardines or mussels on the menus of Izola’s restaurants at very affordable prices. Do not forget Izola Fishermen’s weekend event at the end of August!

Local sights and attractions International Film Festival Kino Otok International Film Festival Kino Otok takes place every year in June. In addition to the world’s masterpieces Festival annually presents the news from the independent film productions. For five days, the number of Izola’s population increases also because most authors present their films in person. Program is held at four venues - the Art Cinema Odeon, Cultural Centre, beach “Na Svetilniku / At the Lighthouse” and on every year’s most romantic venue - Manzioli square. EUROFEST International Hanball Festival EUROFEST is an international handball festival, held annually in July since 1993. More than 3000 handball players from 20 different countries take part on it. Participants play on outdoor courts and in the halls of Koper and Izola. Finals are played on the central pitch under floodlights in Izola.
Archaeological site at San Simone After the foundation of the Roman colony Aquileia in 181 BC., a great part of Istria came under the Roman authority. The process of Romanization can be noticed especially in the intense settling of the coastal area and also its hinterland. One of such settlement complexes is the roman coastal villa with a port in Simonov zaliv bay. The archeological sites were found on a four-hectare land where they discovered the remains of the coastal residential roman villa (villae maritimae) with an outbuilding and the largest port of that time. Together they represent one of the greatest estates in this part of Istria. The rooms of the roman villa are paved with priceless black and white mosaics.
