Hostelling International Slovenia Hostelling International Slovenia (HI Slovenia) is the only national representative of Slovenia in the International Youth Hostel Federation (Hostelling International – HI). HI is a non-governmental and non-profit organization active in about 90 countries in the world. The organization works closely together with UNESCO (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WTO (World Tourism Organization) and other important international organization – also it was proclaimed the sixth largest organization that offers overnighting. With 4 million members it is one of the largest youth organizations in the world and is the only network of youth hostels with about 4.000 objects for spending the night, 1.5 million beds and 30-40 overnight stays annually. HI has high standards for youth hostels, based on the treatment of the guests, security, cleanliness and privacy. But it is not its only role. Since it was established in 1932 it encourages young people for better intercultural understanding through informal education and peace, global friendship and environmentalism. The international organization, with a strong support of its national members, it offers interaction among youth of various nationalities and cultures, exchange of experience, getting to know their peers and after all themselves. For this the organization has international programs for youth, above all the ones with lesser chances, through which we spread the mission of Hostelling International, which remained the same since 1932: To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as ancillary thereto, to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinctions of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad. HI Slovenia, with more than 40 hostels around Slovenia, ensures safe, budget friendly and quality boarding for all types of groups. This includes the educational field trips with various themes (history, art or language courses) as well as extracurricular activities for schools, students, sporting and other groups – or simply friends who want a joint active holiday. All Slovenian hostels meet the international demands, with most of them having special offers for the groups: • Private rooms for group leaders and drivers • Bus parking • Study rooms, game rooms and joint areas • Ensuring full meals and possible lunch packets • Personal that understands the needs of any group Hostels are placed as well in the urban centres as in nature, but all can be perfect base for discovering the country side. A new hostel in the center of Bovec. Bovec is a small town in Slovenia, located between high mountains and famous SoÄ?a river. It is a great destination for people looking for adrenaline release, river and land sports, tasty traditional food, historical and natural monuments. Our staff will help you to remember your journey in Bovec. The hostel Bovec is located in a big renovated house just in front of Kaninska vas and can host a maximum number of 50 guests. You can choose to stay in different rooms, we have from double room to twelve beded dormitory with sharing bathrooms. We serve free breakfast in a big common room where you can also socialize with other guests in front of a nice fire place. You can enjoy the summer evenings on the outdoor terrace or in the small garden behind the house. Wifi is reached in every room for free. If you are coming with bicycles or motorbikes, we have a big garage for store them. The garage is usefull also for winter season to store your skies.

The surroundings of the Hostel Bovec and the Soča valley tourist centre are surrounded by tall Alpine mountains and the rivers of Soča and Koritnica. Rising above the valley, the mountain of Svinjak gives the Bovec panorama its characteristic appearance. You can reach Bovec from Nova Gorica going on the main road through Tolmin and Kobarid. From North Europe the best way till Bovec is highway Salzburg-Villach-Tarvisio(Italy)-here you leave the highway and follow the indications Predel-Bovec. There are over 20 sports companies in Bovec. They organise rafting trips, kayaking courses, riverboarding and other activities in on the Soča. A destination popular with sports enthusiasts, the town offers a variety of options for recreation: hiking, mountaineering, cycling, kayaking, canyoning, rock climbing and, in the winter, skiing, guided sledding or snowshoe hiking and cross-country skiing.

Local sights and attractions The river Soča The river Soča is one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, the Soča is an important natural treasure in the Triglav National Park. It is famous for its deep emerald colour and brisk rapids in the upstream area. Soca offers, many sports activities or just a pleasant summer cooling.
Fortress Kluže Fortress Kluže is a mighty fortress above the gorge Koritnice, one of the most visited cultural attractions in the Soca Valley. It is an important monument of defense against the invading Turks, Napoleon’s army and attacks in the first World War II. Today, the fortress is a historic building with a permanent exhibition and a cultural center that hosts the Festival of Performing Arts.
The Isonzo Front Learning about the Isonzo Front on the Route of peace: see the open-air museums of Ravelnik and Čelo. The area of the Upper Soča region was part of the Isonzo Front during the First World War. Soldiers of numerous nations were fighting, suffering and dying along the Soča. Surviving from this era are trenches, fortifications, caves, memorials, and military cemeteries. This is an important cultural and historical heritage.
The Triglav National Park The Triglav National Park is the only national park in Slovenia and a veritable paradise for fans of pristine nature, the Triglav National Park boasts a number of natural sights, including the Julian Alps with Triglav (2864 m), Slovenia’s highest mountain. Almost a third part of the park is lacated in the region of Bovec.

Local sights and attractions The Kanin The Kanin mountains are a great location for discovering mountainous karst features and an excellent starting point for hikes to the surrounding mountain peaks. The Kanin-Sella Nevea ski resort, open in the winter, offers magnificent views of the Trieste Bay.
Streams and waterfalls In Bovec there are a lot of streams and beautiful waterfalls. The most beautiful waterfalls are: Boka, Virje, Nemčlja and others. The waterfall Boka is 144 m high and 18 m wide, Slovenia’s most majestic waterfall with the highest flow rate is considered one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Europe. You can see it from the bridge on the road from Žaga to Bovec. The Glijun stream boasts a multi-stranded waterfall Virje, 12 m in height and 20 m in width. Below, there is a beautiful pool in shades of green.
Caves There are many caves o the surroundings of Bovec, showing the geological diversity of this area. Worth a visit are: Cave Srnica, Čehi 2 and Sistem Mala Boka. The Srnica cave is distinguished by fossilised heart-shaped mussels. In long-lasting or heavy rains, the Srnica cave fills up with water and turns into a temporary water source. A waterfall forms at the upper entrance to the cave. There is a 63 m difference in altitude between the entrances to the cave. Exploring the Srnica cave is difficult and can only be attempted with the right equipment and an experienced guide.
