Hostelling International Slovenia Hostelling International Slovenia (HI Slovenia) is the only national representative of Slovenia in the International Youth Hostel Federation (Hostelling International – HI). HI is a non-governmental and non-profit organization active in about 90 countries in the world. The organization works closely together with UNESCO (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization), WTO (World Tourism Organization) and other important international organization – also it was proclaimed the sixth largest organization that offers overnighting. With 4 million members it is one of the largest youth organizations in the world and is the only network of youth hostels with about 4.000 objects for spending the night, 1.5 million beds and 30-40 overnight stays annually. HI has high standards for youth hostels, based on the treatment of the guests, security, cleanliness and privacy. But it is not its only role. Since it was established in 1932 it encourages young people for better intercultural understanding through informal education and peace, global friendship and environmentalism. The international organization, with a strong support of its national members, it offers interaction among youth of various nationalities and cultures, exchange of experience, getting to know their peers and after all themselves. For this the organization has international programs for youth, above all the ones with lesser chances, through which we spread the mission of Hostelling International, which remained the same since 1932: To promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and an appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and as ancillary thereto, to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinctions of race, nationality, colour, religion, sex, class or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad. PZS, with its 48 hostels around Slovenia, ensures safe, budget friendly and quality boarding for all types of groups. This includes the educational field trips with various themes (history, art or language courses) as well as extracurricular activities for schools, students, sporting and other groups – or simply friends who want a joint active holiday. All Slovenian hostels meet the international demands, with most of them having special offers for the groups: • Private rooms for group leaders and drivers • Bus parking • Study rooms, game rooms and joint areas • Ensuring full meals and possible lunch packets • Personal that understands the needs of any group Hostels are placed as well in the urban centres as in nature, but all can be perfect base for discovering the country side. Hostel Trbovlje has 24 beds, which are sorted in dormitory, apartments and double rooms. All rooms have a private bathroom and free Wi-Fi. On arrival guests receive free linen and towel. In hostel is also a fully equipped kitchen for guests. In Hostel Trbovlje is Cafeteria and a big multipurpose hall with stage for concerts, talk shows, workshops and exhibitions. Bicycle rental is also available. On the first flour is a Tourist information center, where guests and other visitors can get a tip what to do and where to go in our region. Besides making your own trip across Zasavje, you can also receive a free map and brochures to research area by yourself. In the vicinity of hostel is restaurant, market, museum, theatre, library, shops, stadium, bus station, stadium, basketball court and volleyball court.

The surroundings of the Hostel Zasavje is one of the smallest and most populated region in Slovenia, population of 45.000. Zasavje has three towns – Zagorje, Trbovlje and Hrastnik, and each of these towns offers a lot of interesting architecture, activities and experience. From industrial towns they are becoming beautiful, modernized places, which every year attract curious tourists. Zasavje is situated in the hilly area and very known by hiking and other adrenaline sports as rock climbing, rafting on Sava River, paragliding from the region’s famous hills, horse riding and air soft in forest. For a little less sporty type of visitors we offer many other excursions to museums, ethnological path of coalminers, discovering mining colonies and a walk underneath the ground – discovering the coalmine.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner In hostel Trbovlje we offer breakfasts, lunch and dinner can be organized in the nearby restaurant or by catering. In hostel there is also fully equipped kitchen for guests, so they can prepare their own meals. Breakfast: We serve breakfast for guests for an additional charge. Local sights and attractions Museum of Zasavje, Trbovlje Museum of Zasavje, Trbovlje: visitors can see a permanent exhibition of mining industry and the mining colony, not far from the museum, where visitors can learn more specifically the hard work and life of miners and their wives.

Adventure activities for all ages: - Rafting on the Sava River (from Zagorje to Hrastnik): raft on adventurous Sava and stop on one of the Sava beaches to observe thousands of fishes or jump in the water - Jump with parachute in tandem from the region’s famous hill such as Mrzlica, Kal or Sv. Ethnological path Ethnological path is the path trough mine colonies and mining area, which present cultural heritage. The path is based along the short and long route. The whole path, which links six types of colonies is approximately 3km long, the time required to view is 1,5 to 2 hours long. Shorter path is about 1,5km long.

Local sights and attractions Museum of Hrastnik On the ground floor you can see an exhibition of glasswork factory, a history of chemical factory and archaeology – remains of Romans. On second floor you can see the old elementary classroom. One the same floor is also an exhibition of II. World war, coalmine industry, culture, societies, shoemaker and agriculture. On the third floor there are presented puppets – marionettes, which are typical for Hrastnik. Marionettes’s shows are also played there as there are 2 stages. Zasavje’s highest hill Kum It is accessible also by car. On Kum there is a church Sv. Neža, a Mountain lodge where they serve nice food and a very beautiful view from where you are able to see from Triglav mountain, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, eastern and southern Slovenia.
Mine museum Kisovec In year 1995 an engine shaft was renovated into a mine museum, where there visitors can see photos and documentary material, tools and accessories, showing the history of mining and the individual extracts from the work of miners. On the platform of the outer shaft is presented the development of mine transport, ways of producing the coal and different kinds of supports.
A trip on dwarf Perkmandeljc’s paths Go to visit underground of Zasavje – take a walk in the mine, where you can meet dwarf Perkmandeljc, and try miner’s food. The trail continues with interesting ride with mine carts and wall-mounted diesel locomotive. Experience a real coalmine trough your eyes and walk the labyrinth of mine.
