2018 International Design Competition Building for Billions Team - Ar. A. V. Joshi, Ar. Ankit Kokil, Ar. Zubin Patel

In order to meet the target of accommodating 10 Million-equal to 100 lakhs, within two years i.e. 2020 we have to think over the existing construction practices From (“Wet construction”, to radically different (“Dry construction”) The unit has been designed on four basic principles: Quality, Speed, Comfort and Economy Any multi-storied building, as only alternative to save on the urban costly urban land parcel, in concrete structure will need at least 2.5 to 3 years to complete as the pouring, de-shuttering, curing, etc is all “Wet Construction” and time consuming.

Units in Each Floor- 08 Total Units - 96.0 Area of single family unit - 28.6 m2 Plinth Area (Including Column) 230 m2 Typical Floor Area 370 m2 Population accommodated 384 - 400 residents, 96 families Cost of each unit 3.18 Lakhs Estimated time for completion 3-4 Months

2017 Undergraduate Thesis Best Thesis Award - CRECPTA International Centre for Yoga and Holistic Science, Goa

Learning is a process in which knowing that what we dont know is a part of learning. Yoga today is almost universally equated to asanas, pranayama and meditation (Dhyana) and never as a seperate system and philosophy with well defined tenets, guidelines, methods and practices and having a tradition harking back to timeless antiquity. The aim was to create architecture that acts as a medium for the transition of the individual from the holistic well being to the spiritual abode of mind, body and soul.

“Can we create an architecture which can act as a medium for the transition of the individual from the holistic wellbeing to the spiritual abode of mind, body and soul?

A state within the coastal region (Konkan) having Panaji as the state’s capital. Indian’s richest state with a GDP per capita two and a half times that of the country. State rich in culture and heritage. Goa is visited by large numbers of international and domestic tourists each year for its beaches, places of worship and world heritage architecture.

G OA

The Site Located in the area of North Goa District in ponda taluk in kundiam. An important landmark near the site is Kundai (Math) which is a spiritual learning centre, this benefits the intent behind the project. The area is featured by a tropical climate with lush green tree cover all around the site.

The informal spaces created in between the two buildings can be used as a hangout space, or for organising small meetings, or as a space for having buffet.

The architectural concern is addressed by considering user sensitivity and experience for creating architectural spaces dealing with the transition of the user from place to place. In the inner circle vastness of the tree is experienced, shift ing the architectural language along the outer ring keeping exposed material with traditional construction techniques, for buildings,While in the last zone the user would sense the natures call and the surrounding would encourage them to go and explore the self here the nature is given more importance and architecture is merely about fulfilling the function.

Meditation observatory is the main key element of the design as from the concept . to reach the state of consciousness individual need to give away all worldly desires and must communicate with self and nature to findout all the answers, thus this pavilion will serve as a meditation observatory where the students come to meditate.

2016 Architectural Internship - 6 Months Snehal Shah Architects, Ahmedabad

Working in Snehal shah architect office increased my confidence in terms of producing the quality work in time and with detail. This experience helped me learn the nitty gritty of how various attributes in architecture work together. I was exposed to all sorts of work starting from 3D Visualisation, model making , construction drawings to the site supervision work (PMC). Working in great detail helped me groom my detailing skills .

“The Architect works in the territory of memory. - Ar. Mario Botta

2016 Urban Design Studio Palakkad Railway Junction Precinct Architectural Design and Field Tour VIII- Studio Team - Ankit Kokil,Lakshmi Prabha, Aryan Sinha, Sreelakshmi, Zenha

In the Studio we learnt making connections between people and places, movement and urban form, nature and the built fabric and tried to draws together the many strands of place-making, environmental stewardship, social equity and economic viability into the creation of places with distinct beauty, identity and together creating a vision for an area and then deploying the resources and skills needed to bring the vision to life.

“The theory that can absorb the greatest number of facts, and persist in doing so, generation after generation, through all changes of opinion and detail, is the one that must rule all observation - Adam Smith

This Industrial area is one of the oldest Industrial Estate in Kerala. This zone has the largest godown of Food Corporation of India and the oldest Small scale industrial park. The strategic location of Olavakkode area is evident from the presence of these facilities from the very old periods. The FCI godown is the sided godown which has access to Rail and Road.

2

RAILWAY RESIDE NTIAL COLONY

This was the first residential colony developed only for the Railway employees. When a new railway colony was developed this became the ‘Old Colony’. The lack of access to facilities and improper maintainance made this region a neglected area in the locality, which has a lot of development potential

PALAKKAD RAILWAY J UNC TIO N

This Railway station is the hub for all the trains coming into the state of Kerala, except for the access through the northern and southern boundary. The presence of western ghats made this the only strategic point.

The presence of Railway station and the Divisional office made Olavakkode Junction an important node in the region, which got much more significance when NH came into being. The road which were previously used is being neglected despite the fact that the road has retained the character of the region.

2016 Dissertation Application of Origami in Promotional Deployable Shelters

The research deals with understanding the techniques and methods of the Origami art form and its application for the promotional outlets which are temporary, and which are deployable. This is achieved by thoroughly understanding and collecting required information about the materials which are used for the fabrication of the structure. Design development is done using computer aided software’s i.e. grasshopper. Understanding the conventional promotional shelters by looking at existing trends and their evolution through time.

“The design is made into a form where the geometry is in the predominance, the square shape from the sides gives the structure a different look.

To accommodate better view and to provide views along the three sides and to provide an elegant backdrop were the main functional aspects. The design evolved with an idea to provide better aesthetics, feel of enclosure to the user, welcoming from three sides. Design accommodate the required features which will support the application of the structure to be used as a deployable promotional shelter. The design evolved with an idea to provide better aesthetics, feel of enclosure to the user, welcoming from three sides. In order to achieve the stability a detachable aluminum frame is provided which helps in providing extra stability.

• The area enclosed by the structure is 3 m2. • Dimensions- Length: 2 m; Width: 1.5 m • Structure becomes more stable with the addition of the square frame along the two faces. • Clear Height- 1.8 m • Angle between the two mountain fold- 127 deg. • Angle along the valley- 53 deg. • Angle along the edge- 27 deg. Final Design Iteration

It will help enclose the space. Structurally Stable The design is a result of the model making and testing methods which helped to understand the origami art form and its application

2015 Architectural Design and Field Tour VII Multi - Speciality Hospital Design

Hospital design is a result of Inter-Desiplinary relationship between the building function, site planning, form, user friendly semi-open public spaces and the services. The design is done taking into consideration the climatic aspects as well as the wind movement. The building is facing the windward direction thus creating the opprtunities for the inpatient, visitors, staff, doctors to feel refreshed which will reduce the uneasy ambience found in hospitals.

2015 Architectural Internship - 2 Months Anupama Kundoo Architects, Madrid, Spain

Line10 is a design proposal which will establish a concrete alternative to the sprawling residential structures seen today, and will complement them through representing the complete spectrum of diverse urban living experiments. I was the part of the design team for the proposal and during that process I learned about design evolution and how important is the research. During my internship period i researched about ferrocement material, its properties. and construction methods.

“Line10 aims to give Auroville dream a new boost and accomodate people of a new generation. It will concentrate the needed infrastructure and will be the next large construction for collective work and collective life

Mostly I was involved into 3D model making , the images are the showing models of the proposal at different design phases and of different areas of building.
