SPACIAL SEQUENCE Using nine planes to create five zones including entry, overlook space, study space, gathering space and vertical circulation.

SPACIAL SEQUENCE| 06

The model was created based on the idea of public/ private space and balanced composition. Two different boxes with different sizes ensure a private space but also semi opened to overlook the other side of the construction. The differences in the height not only let light gets into the study boxes but also create an interesting perspective. People can enter from both sides from the street that contributes to a smoother movement.

ANALYTICAL COMPOSTION Complete an investigation of Aspen Art Museum and practice the drawings conventions. The final excercise is to explore the compositional and spatial potentials of line, plane, and volume then construct a series of artifacts.

The primary space of the Aspen Art Museum is the stair that leads to the third floor. The model describes the movements around the primary space by combining the solid and the line.

INSERTION Study the context and design an insertion that attaches to the West side of the Alms building. The students are required to consider about the light, composition and the site of the DAAP building not only the Alms building. The insertion design should include two galleries and one gathering space. The scale of the model will be 1/4’’ = 1 foot.

PLANE CUBE Exploring the problem of creating different volumetric spaces by using the interaction of planes. Students are instructed to create a six by six plane cube made by museum board. It is supposed to stand on every side to ensure the balance of whole composition. An elevation drawing of six faces should be done nicely in gouache.
