THE ACCA SYLLABUS, EXAMS, ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND EXEMPTIONS ACCA exams offer real flexibility. There are four exam sessions to choose from each year, and you can take up to 2 exams in each session, which means you can progress through the qualification at your own pace and enter for exams at a time that suits you. Also, in the unlikely event that you should fail an exam, you can resit the paper while your knowledge of the topic is still fresh in your mind. The complete ACCA syllabus consists of 14 papers divided into two levels, each of which consists of two modules. The ‘Fundamentals’ level includes ‘Knowledge and Skills’ modules and the ‘Professional’ level includes ‘Essentials and Options’ modules. To qualify as an ACCA member, you need to complete: • Exams - a minimum of 5 of 14 exams (nine are eligible for exemption*) • Experience - record of 36 months’ experience in a relevant role • Ethics - the Professional Ethics module.

*Nine of the exams, which are part of the qualification, need not be taken if you have other relevant qualifications at the same level. You will have to provide proof of your previous qualifications in order to claim exemptions. **10+2 • 10+2 candidates (Commerce, Accountancy or Mathematics as one of the subjects), Graduates, Postgraduates or professionals. • 10+2 (pass in 5 subjects including English and Mathematics / Commerce, mark of 65% in at least 2 subjects and over 50% in the others). • Student who has passed 10+2 having attained an age of 18yrs is eligible to join ACCA, which means the student will become professionally qualified at the age of 21. • Candidates without any formal qualification can join ACCA through ‘Foundations in Accountancy’, irrespective of their educational qualifications.”
ACCA INDIA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS) How long does it take to complete ACCA? The ACCA qualification consists of 14 papers in total which you can potentially complete within 2 years. The maximum time limit to complete the qualification from your date of registration is 10 years. Why ACCA in India? Many ACCA chartered-accountants are employed by leading multinational organisations in India and all around the world, making the qualification an ideal pathway to a highflying international career in accounting and finance. Can I study ACCA if I have no previous formal qualifications? If you have no formal qualifications, you can begin the ACCA qualification by enrolling as a Foundations in Accountancy student. How do I apply to register with the ACCA? The quickest and easiest way to apply is via ACCA online registration – it should take you no more than 10 minutes to complete. In order to complete the application you will need to provide proof of any qualifications, proof of identity, passport-style photograph. What are the career aspects? ACCA qualifications give you various options like you can specialise in one area of accountancy, e.g. audit or tax, or a consultancy role, provide financial information and advice, or manage the finances of a large multinational company. For which papers will I take computer-based exams? Computer-based exams (CBEs) are available for the first seven Foundation-level exams. CBEs are also available for the F1, F2, F3, and F4 (English and Global) modules. Where will I sit my exams? Exams can be taken in India at any of the ACCAs exam centres, which are located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Cochin, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune. You can find a full list of ACCA exam centres here. How long will it take to complete? It’s dependant on qualifications you possess before registering as you might get some exemptions. Also, if work and study go hand in hand, then you can complete in three to four years. ACCA in total has 10 year time limit from the date of registration.
