A preview of this fall’s play: The Princess Diaries

T
his year’s fall production put on by the Sedro-Woolley High School Drama Department is an upbeat story about a teenage girl who finds out she is the heir to the throne of Genovia, a small european country. Most of you have either seen the movie with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews or read the book by Meg Cabot, but director Amy Gregory is not basing this play after the other versions of the Princess Diaries. “I’ve never seen the movie and that wasn’t an influence for me. We get to make the characters whomever we want to be,” said Gregory Having the freedom of not having these characters in a pre-made form can allow the actors to make the characters a better fit and make them much more comfortable. According to Gregory, “There are lots of fun roles for women, because that’s mainly who auditions.” The lack of male members in the drama department may have provided some trouble when it came to choosing the play or casting the parts, but that will have no effect on
