A Note From the Editor
Beginning new things in Spring! Spring is a fantastic time of year. A sense of renewal is in the air. I like to garden so I am always excited to see my plants coming back to life, and watch seeds grow as if by magic.
I start to make my Holiday gift list in April. Oh, yah, I start planning my gifts months ahead of time.
I have to plan out my projects with enough time to get them done by October, because I am usually so busy with Holiday craft shows, family time and pure exhaustion, that i don’t have much time for projects. Check out my Pinterest boards for great DIY ideas for gifts year round. http:// pinterest.com/thegiftguide I’m also really excited to get back to the farmers market. I love walking up and down the aisles, checking out who’s got the best looking strawberries and beet greens! Check out Karen’s pattern for a market bag for trips to your local farmer’s market. Don’t know of one in your area? Check this website to find one: http:// search.ams.usda.gov/farmersmarkets/. If you would rather use that bag as a harvest sack, Start a garden and grow your own veggies! Find out how in the new gardening section of the mag. We will have seasonal tips in each issue that will help you stay on top of the bounty you are sure to harvest. I found some great ways to upcycle my collection of
vintage sheets. Make a no-sew bunting that took me less than a half hour! I also have a few fave blogs that have tutorials and are great resources for vintage sheets. I of course had to crochet some flowers in tribute to the return of warmth. I have a sweet and easy pattern to crochet cute flowers that you can make into a banner or use as an applique on clothing, accessories and home decor. There are also additional patterns on my blog: www.thehandmadegiftguide.com. Enjoy the magazine. We love to sharing our handmade lives with you, and hope to help you to develop routines to get into the handmade lifestyle! Spring is a great time to start a new hobby! {mine is quilting!} xo, Anne
