The magazine has gained a fantastic following online as well as the hardcopy so I have decided to keep the online version going whilst we ride out the financial storm. Not only does this mean super cheap advertising, meaning everyone can advertise in a fantastic magazine, but also means that I’m not limited on how many pages I can have in each month.....more features, more brilliant businesses, more competitions, more everything! Please keep on reading Anne Louise, keep supporting us and in return I promise to help promote, feature and bring gorgeous businesses to your screens. So sit back, relax and enjoy :)

Confessions of a shopaholic.... Self confessed shopaholic Emma, decided something drastic needed to be done with her ever expanding wardrobe collection, rather than send off the hardly worn and brand new items to charity shops, Emma decided to create ‘Worn Once’ where other fashionistas can grab a bargain
“I
am a self confessed Shopoholic & Dress Diva with bulging wardrobes of items I buy, wear once or not at all. The concept of Worn Once was thought up whilst discussing my previous experiences with traditional auction sites - the fee’s charged to place an ad, the fee’s after you’d sold the item & also being limited to a listing time. By creating the Worn Once Facebook page I am able to keep my items advertised without a listing time period. “It also give me the opportunity to put back into practise my Customer Service skills and qualifications gained in the work place. “As well as the country being in an apparent state of recession, the opportunity to raise cash seems better than to give fabulous items to charity, so going back to the saying ‘charity begins at home’ is currently more applicable to my family and I. Though I do donate monthly to Olly’s Rainbow and have huge respect for the work they do. “My over-spending, allows other fashionista’s the chance to pick up ‘Designer’ and ‘High Street’ items at very low prices! “I also keep the postage as low as possible. I found that auction site sellers often use postal charges to make additional money unfairly. I’m a Mother of two boys and through all the money I spend on myself on clothes, bags, shoes and jewellery, by selling on what I don’t really need, allows me to invest my earnings from ‘Worn Once’ into savings for their future.”

Geri By Next See the amazing Geri by Next swimwear and beachwear collection
Yellow stripe top £22 | White bikini briefs £16
“I’ve been all sorts of different shapes and sizes over the years and I’ve constantly been seen – and scrutinized – in a bikini. But whatever size I’ve been, I’ve never been able to find a bikini that fitted properly. If the top was ok, the bottom wasn’t. So the idea of doing a swimwear line was completely natural. It came out of necessity. As Next is part of my history (I used to be a Saturday girl at Next), it seemed a perfect fit for me to work with them.
bikini Black beaded de si e Ti | 2 top £2 6 bikini brief £1
“On the beach, us women are at our most exposed – and therefore most vulnerable. As any woman deserves to look and feel good, she needs swimwear that pays proper attention to comfort and function. I wanted to give women an amazing fit, an inspirational look, at an affordable price. “From my own experience, I was already aware of shapes that flatter – shapes that can look sexy or slimming. There are a lot of big-busted women out there who want to look sexy, not frumpy. So I looked at the structure of cups that could lift boobs but still feel comfortable. For a great bust-line, the contour at the top edge of a bikini has to be just right and for women who need a little help, I’ve done bikini tops with padding. “A strapless bandeau shape makes a great choice as it means there’s no strap marks. But most bandeaus have no uplift; they tend to flatten boobs, not flatter them. So I’ve created a bandeau that incorporates a great cup – I’m really proud of it. I also know the secret of how to make your bum look smaller. You actually need a much smaller shape than most women probably think. It has also got a lot to do with the size of the side straps and the cut of the leg – which should be high, but not too high!” “So I hope you can see that I have genuinely thought about each and every piece in my Geri by Next collection and I hope you’re as excited about it as I am.” Love Geri x

with photographer Ruth Rose Nina Bon Bina photoshoot
Behind the scenes
T
aalented photographer Ruth Rose shot the super stylist Nina Bon Bina Autumn/ Winter 2011 Collection. We go behind the scenes and find out about this young, fashion and beauty photographer based in London.
Nina Bon Bina is a fresh and playful new brand. The understated, classic designs are achieved by using rich ethnic inspired print, laundered cottons and sumptuous silks with beautifully simple shapes and silhouettes. Garments are sprinkled with pretty laces, embroideries and embellishments adding to each style’s charm and ensuring each piece becomes a wardrobe gem. *(Words taken from www.ninabonbina.com) Ruth, “It was a lovely collection to shoot and the Esvie Creatives team did an amazing job. We had our very own Keira Knightly lookalike, (she’s not really but she should be!) the stunning Elizabeth Miles modelling for us. We did some classic poses to compliment the sleek designs of the dresses but also got Elizabeth to do angular, obscure poses creating an antithesis between the posing and the garment.” Where did you learn photography, how long have you been a fashion photographer and how did you get into it? I started photography at A level and loved it. I wasn’t sure how to turn it into a career and ended up going to uni to study English and Philosophy. In the holidays I interned with different photographers. When I graduated I got an internship with Elisabeth Hoff, who was a massive inspiration. I was thrust in to the high end spectrum of the fashion industry and learnt so much. I then took several photographing and lighting courses and worked as an assistant. What types of photoshoot do you enjoy most and why? I love everything that involves people but mainly fashion photography. I have come to photography from a creative drive and therefore love the freedom and creativeness there is with people. I like the surprise and ever changing nature of a shoot. Other photographers love the precision and control they have over a still life or landscape shot but that isn’t for me! With fashion photography, I love the concept of ‘creating a beautiful and an ideal image’. I love the art of post production and think that people need to be aware that when they look in a magazine they are looking as they would, a painting or a sculpture. Fashion photographers are not attempting to depict reality but to create something beautiful. What are the special qualities required of a fashion photographer? I think that a fashion photographer has to have an eye for what will work. How much work do you do in the studio as compared to on location? Which do you prefer and why? I do a lot in the studio because of the control that it gives you. I do love to work on location, however. And am doing a shoot this summer in Puerto Banus, Spain. Locations can add another dimension to your images. But with them comes that other element of worry that it will rain etc, so that pushes me back into the studio! I think if you do work in a studio you have to keep thinking of new ways to keep it fresh. I am constantly learning new lighting techniques and getting new backgrounds to mix it up.
14 | anne louise July 2011
What’s a typical day like for you? I don’t have a typical day. I can go from one day being up at 5:30am and getting in late in the evening, being dressed up and here there and everywhere . Then the next day could be me sat in my comfy clothes at my computer for 12 hours editting the photos and planning the next shoot! Are there any negative aspects to the job? The negative aspects to the job would be, being self employed, and in the economic crisis, it is tough. And there is always that feeling that you are never guaranteed work, but if you are good and pro active then you will get the work and clients will come back to you. Then you can benefit from the perks and freedom of being self employed. How do you approach a photoshoot, is it all planned out before hand or do you go with the flow on set? I approach a photoshoot by planning as much as possible. I will do a mood board and discuss ideas with the rest of the team. It is very important to go into a shoot with a vision. However, working with models and variables nothing is ever as precise as planned so you have to be prepared to go with the flow of the set. You have to be prepared to try things because you never know. How would you describe your photographic style? My photographic style - I think lots of energy. I try to make each shot the finished article. Every aspect of it has to be perfect and work together. What is typically in your camara bag? Camera body, lenses, lights, endless batteries and memory cards and back up devises because I am paranoid! What has been you favourite photoshoot? Favourite shoot would be when I photographed a shoot on ‘Austria’s Next Top Model’. Any advice for aspiring fashion photographers? Just keep trying and be pro active. You have to find work it won’t come to you but you will get there in the end :)

Short of cash but still want to look fab? Follow our tips on how to be clever with your shopping trips......
Cheerful
The first rule when on a budget is to beware of trying to economise by loading up with lots of cheap clothes. Instead, make sure you have your wardrobe essentials such as good-fitting jeans (F&F at Tesco has some great flares for only £14), plain tops that can be teamed with lots of items and a short dress. Why the short dress? Well, it can be worn in a multitude of ways. M&Co, for example, has a lovely white tunic that can be worn alone as a dress or worn over a pair of trousers for a funky look. By wearing a belt with it you can change the look as often as you like – Next has some fab, bright, patent belts that would be perfect. Another versatile item is a shirt – this can be worn over a dress, have the collars pulled up for a smarter look or dress down with a pair of jeans (check out Warehouse for a shirt that will keep you on-trend for the whole summer). Don’t forget to trawl through your wardrobe for unloved clothes that can be brought up to date with an accessory or two. Transform your t-shirts by pinning back a sleeve with a big, colourful hairclip (Internacionale has some gorgeous floral clips that will do the job perfectly), or attach jewels to trousers for a bespoke look – It’s Vintage Darling has some wonderfully over-the-top earrings that would look great when clipped on to a pocket. Scarves are another winner as they can be used as a headscarf, round your neck or cinched around your waist. The trick when you’re short of cash is to think laterally and make the most of what you’ve already got. Old jeans snipped to create stylish shorts and worn with a top pulled in with a belt will make you look like a trend-setting style queen. Dare to be different and save money at the same time – what’s not to love?

How would you cope in a medical emergency for your baby or even a stranger?
Just knowing the basic of keeping an airway open can save lives. St Johns Ambulance trained about 800,000 last year to make a difference in saving lives. Were you one of these people? If not then why don’t you consider doing a paediatric first aid course in your local area with St John Ambulance, as you will never truly know when you will need the knowledge. A paediatric first aid course covers two days. The course is designed to help save babies and children’s lives from birth to puberty. All people who care for a baby or child, such as a child minder or play group staff are responsible to promptly act out first aid when necessary. The course itself helps to prepare each individual to stay calm, asses the situation and give the correct medical assistance needed. From external bleeding, asthma attacks, recognising symptoms of meningitis early to resuscitating a new born baby. EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW:
Her Majesty & The Wolves Who, or what, is Her Majesty & The Wolves? The answer could be: the next great electronic dance outfit. Or, alternatively, an epic, immersive theatrical dance experience; or a nightmarish rave retelling of Little Red Riding Hood via Phillip Pullman. All of these answers would be true, but in more straightforward terms, Her Majesty & The Wolves is Ex Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt and producer, songwriter, and MC, Spencer Nezey. Interview Linsey Robinson
How did the band come about? Did you know each other before? Spencer - Kim and I meet through mutual friends working on Kim’s solo project at the time. We did not know each other prior. But have been friends going on two years now Kimberly - We met through a mutual friend and we clicked right away! We didn’t know each other until about a year and half to two years ago! Kimberly do you miss being with the Pussycat girls and do you still keep in contact? I do miss being on stage and goofing around with my fellow Pussycat Dolls but I don’t really miss the situation. I just saw Jessica at Coachella, it was the best surprise ever!!! Kimberly was it a hard decision to leave the Pussycat Dolls and start something completely new? It was the hardest decision I have ever made in my life!!! Your music has a euphoric / pop / dance feel, how did the development of your sound come about?
music and move to electro pop? Jupiter Rising is no longer together, it was a project I inherited. The project had a distinct sound that was gradually developing into the music I’m into now. Spencer you’ve been playing the saxophone from the age of 9, is this the only instrument you play and which do you prefer acoustic or electronic instruments? Saxophone is the first instrument I am most comfortable with. But I love playing all types of keys. Love using acoustic and electronic interments on all my records. It gives the music a more universal sound. Did you find it hard to choose songs to appear on the album? Spencer- The song choice was very natural. Kim and I really only worked with one other song writer, Nick Furlong. All the tracks I had produced were very unique, so each song we wrote seemed to fit like a piece to the Her Majesty story. Kimberly- It happened very organically. We went into the recording process knowing we wanted to create an experience from start to finish and we chose beats and songs to fit the flow as we went.
Spencer- The idea behind the music came about once the name was formed. I wanted the music to represent the name, progressive house with a twist of royal elegance! Kimberly- Spencer is the brain behind the music and production. Watching him bring our music to life has been incredible!!
What were your influences when you created your debut album '111'?
Spencer you were part of a Hip-Hop band called Jupiter Rising, is this band still together? What made you decide to change style of
Kimberly- Ladyhawke, Engine Earz Experiment and Kate Havenick, Swedish House Mafia, DeadMau5, Florence and the Machine, Royksopp
Spencer- My personal influence for this project came from a lot of progressive house groups and producers and song writers like: Deadmau5, SHM, EDX, Fedde Le Grand, Goldfrapp, and Bon Iver.
July 2011 anne louise | 23
Did you have much input into creating the music videos? Spencer- We had full creative control in the vision of our goodbye/goodnight video! Kimberly- Yeah We had full input in the creation of the music videos!! If you had the chance to meet some one you greatly admire who would it be and why? Spencer- Pharrell Williams. One of the coolest dudes on the planet. PERIOD!!! Kimberly- Erykah Badu. She makes beautiful music with powerful lyrics. I think her shared wisdom would be of good use in my own life And if you could ask them only one question what would it be? Spencer- DuDe. How was it working with ODB on “BAby I Got Your Money”??!! Kimberly- What has it been like for you in the music industry?
beauty, hair and fashion stylists, have you ever been given some fab tips that you couldn’t live without? A fab tip i’ve been given for dry lips is to let moisturizer sit for 5-10 minutes and then brush off the dry skin with a clean mascara brush! Kimberly you’ve joined forces with your friend Laura McComiskie to create an all natural make up brand, BM Beauty. Is this something you have always wanted to do? I’ve always been passionate about makeup! When Laura and I connected and discussed the possibility it was something I was and continue to be very passionate about!! More tutorials on www.bmbeauty.com coming very soon!! Kimberly what’s one item out of your makeup bag you can’t live without? BM Beauty nude lip gloss and marble sparkle eyeshadow/highlighter!! You’ve just been added to this year’s Wireless festival. What can we expect from your live set
Do you prefer live performances or creating music videos?
Expect Chilli cheese fries, Vanilla Shake, Circus de sole Epiciness!!!!!!!
Spencer- I think both are equally important and fun. But playing live is definitely my favorite! Kimberly- I love both!! But there is nothing better then performing live and getting that instant feedback and adrenaline rush!!
www.hermajestyandthewolves.com
What is a typical day for you both? Spencer- Early morning, workout, lunch, one game of Call Of Duty, then off to the lab and begin the creative process. Kimberly- Wake up early, answer e-mails, workout, meetings, good food, and then creative work. How do you chill out and relax? Spencer- I honestly love playing video games when I have absolutely nothing to do. Kimberly- Hanging out outdoors with a camera, a journal, and a book. What music is currently on your iPod? Spencer- Frank Ocean, Fedde Le Grand, Mos Def, Ghostface Killa, Axwell, AfroJack Kimberly- Temper Trap, Arcade Fire, James Blake, and Robyn Kimberly having a dance background can you share with us a great move that will tone buttocks and thighs!? Skip backwards up a really big hill!! It works!!! Kimberly you must have met some fantastic

Resident Makeup Editor Lisa Precious shares the latest bridal makeup trends...... www.lisaprecious.co.uk
The Bridal season is upon us, it’s my favorite time of the year as I am busy seeing my brides during the week for trials and attending weddings at the weekends. This month I wanted to feature this seasons bridal trends, with last year being all about loose curls and bohemian looks, this season we are seeing a huge swing toward all things vintage and fifties style glamour. These trends flow through into bridal looks with brides wanting large quirky hair accessories and slightly messed up hair. We are moving away from the traditional groomed bride, make-up is less done and more about a natural glowing complexion, enhanced kohl lined eyes and sheer glossy lips, the effect is simple and stunning. Your bridal make-up has to last all day and into the evening, the bride often wants to look very natural whilst enhancing her features, it can seem like a bit more make-up than you are used to but you will need it as it won’t look like you are wearing any on the photos. Powder is essential for setting your foundation and longevity throughout the day. I also love using Bobbi Brown blusher in Peony £17.00 for a gorgeous rosy hue to the skin that can be applied in soft layers building up the colour as you go. Then try a Bobbi
Brown Shimmer Brick £30.50 over the face for a soft glow. Waterproof mascara is a must as often a few tears are shed, although I highly recommend to all my brides that they have eyelash extensions as it doesn’t matter about crying and they last well into the honeymoon before they need in filling, they also look a lot more natural than glue on lashes. Lips look best with a shiny pretty lip gloss, I am really liking Bare Escentuals Buxom Lip glosses £18 as they come in 19 pretty shades, one to suit everybody. They lightly plump the lips, are non sticky and very comfortable to wear. My favorite shade is Bunny, a light fresh natural coral. If you have an idea in your mind as to how you want to look on the day, then my advice is to browse the internet for images of looks that you like. I usually ask brides to email over an image of themselves and images of looks that they have seen and liked. It is also beneficial to go for a make-up and hair trial first as it saves time and confusion on the day and saves disappoinment. I like brides to come for a trial in usual make-up then I can gauge how they normally like to see themselves and enhance on this. My advice is not to start using new products in the run up to the wedding but to stick with the products that usually work for you as we don’t want any nasty skin reactions, try to get plenty of sleep, make an effort to drink lots of water and take a skin, hair and nails supplement, I recommend Perfectil Plus Dual Pack available at Boots, £18.39 taken daily for three months before the big day.

And then in the evening slip over a dress to keep you warm whilst still looking stylish. There really is so many ways you can wear the Casha, I personally love throwing it on at night over my nightwear to keep me warm and cosy. Invaluable for pre and post pregnant ladies, pop into your handbag for an easy to wear and light wrap or throw it on when you are breastfeeding to give you some privacy and provide a calm environment for your little one. Also perfect to wrap around your baby or child when you are away from them, simply spray with your perfume to create a comforting mummy love blanket which they can snuggle up with until you return. I would highly recommend the Casha whether it’s for yourself or a present for a loved one, without a doubt, one of the best versatile fashion accessories I’ve come across.
