Folio presentation for Paper Nature S1, 2013
Students were asked to re-imagine the traditional paper lantern through drawing inspiration and deriving geomtric rules from patterns found in nature. Each lantern addresses the relationship between geometry and its effects through light and shadow. The hand is the context. Lanterns are designed digitally using 3d modelling software and fabricated from a 2d cutting template which is output through CNC card cutter and laser cutter. The multiple intricate paper panels are then hand folded and assembled fusing digital technology with craft sensibility
