Beginning her career in Audiology in South Africa, Dr Lara Shur reached the position of Senior Audiologist & Speech Therapist at a large public hospital in Soweto. Her passion to achieve parity in ear health for disadvantaged children, coupled with a lack of services in WA available in remote regions, saw her co-found Earbus Foundation of Western Australia (EFWA) along with Teacher for the Deaf, Paul Higginbotham (EFWA CEO) and Nurse Audiometrist, Dee Parker (EFWA Aboriginal Ear Health Consultant) in 2013. Earbus Foundation is an innovative and agile not-for-profit working to reduce the incidence and impact of middle ear disease on Aboriginal and at-risk children.
