AUG 12 - SEPT 8, 2016 ARTISTS’ RECEPTION FRIDAY, AUGUST 12 FROM 5-7 PM
The Ann Korologos Gallery presents Noble Beasts: Animals We Love, a group exhibition of sculpture and painting by artists Neil Clifford, Heather Foster, Terry Gardner, Veryl Goodnight, Gordon Gund, Peggy Judy, Sandra Lee Kaplan, Paula Schuette Kraemer, Amy Laugesen, Janet Nelson, Jill Soukup and Immi Storrs. The exhibition will open with an artists’ reception on Friday, August 12 from 5-7 pm. This is an Art Walk Basalt Second Friday (ARTB2F), a free event open to the public in Historic Downtown Basalt. The Noble Beasts exhibition is a celebration of animals, both wild and domestic. Many are favorites of the artists; others are western icons, inextricably entwined with the Roaring Fork Valley landscape. The menageries of subjects include: birds of prey, horses, cattle, buffalo, deer, elk, moose, goats, foxes, bears and fish. There will be a wide spectrum of artistic styles and media available to delight and decorate the homes of fellow animal lovers: Paula Schuette Kraemer’s charming prints of loyal dogs; Sandra Lee Kaplan’s majestic photographs of horses; Neil Clifford’s elegant bronze birds; Heather Foster’s, Jill Soukup’s and Peggy Judy’s richly textured portraits of cattle, bison and horses (respectively) and Amy Laugesen’s ancient relic-informed ceramic equine art.

Additionally, sculptor Veryl Goodnight’s oil painting studies and bronze maquettes will be on view alongside the sensual bronzes of artist Gordon Gund and the innovative light boxes of Immi Storrs. The tonalist landscapes of Denver painter Terry Gardner and Janet Nelson’s multi-media horse bridles will round out this colorful presentation. The Ann Korologos Gallery is a premier source for Western Art in the Roaring Fork Valley, and a destination for art lovers seeking exceptional fine art of the region. The gallery represents 35 painters, sculptors, photographers and ceramic artists, many of whom live and work in the Roaring Fork Valley. Noble Beasts: Animals We Love will remain on view through September 6, 2016. For more information, please visit the gallery at 211 Midland Avenue in Basalt or visit our website.
