A graceful glide to gold for Sweden! It was a narrow victory but enough points for Swedish athletes to show off their elegance and athletic prowess at the 13th World Synchronized Skating Championship. This year's event transfixed audiences worldwide, showcasing extreme athleticism and skillful choreography. These graceful beauties appear to move effortlessly however this sport takes strength! Hosting this competition is a natural choice for Goteborg, Sweden, an ice-skating paradise of frozen terrain that draws crowds from around the globe. In photo: Italy team

Swimming seems too simple a word to describe the immense artistic, athletic talent and out-of-the-box idea that this diverse group expresses. Aquabatix gathers some of the world-class sync swimmers and lifelong friends who literally spend days in pool honing their skills. One of the mastermind behind the water based entertainment troupe, Katie Fried claims that she is most satisfied by their recent production performed by the quartet Aquabatique in a big glass tank at The Britain’s Got Talent 2012. The dramatic Jame Bond vibe accompanied by 007 medley has echoed the joy of the UK host Olympics this year. Kitsch, retro and always in style, the iconic music was the perfect choice, fusing art and sport seamlessly. Don't be surprised by a sudden mid-air split! How do you orientate yourself in unfamiliar elements? Martijn van Dam, professional skydiving photographer, has his feet firmly planted on the ground when it comes to understanding what's up--and down--during flight. Skydivers get their bearings by looking up towards the sky to fixate on familiar points such as clouds or even the sun. Ground spots such as an airport runway can also "ground" them.
Perhaps when your world is turned upside down, you can find solace in familiar landmarks too!
“ Skydiving is not a sport for everybody, but everybody can try it! ” said Martijn. “I enjoy the freedom you have in the sky, no worry of any daily stuffs, it’s just 50 seconds of work.” In photo: Star formed by skydivers in stable position photo by Martijn van Dam 17
Brewdog 5am Saint Scotland 5% ABV From a brewery with a reputation for making the richest, strongest and most alcoholic beer in the world comes a deep amber ale comprised of very fragrant and aromatic qualities. Appealing and enticing to the nose with floral notes, dates, toffee, nuttiness and sweetness of citrus and tropical exotic fruits, this full bodied beer is sure to be everyone’s favourite! The white head is thin with big bubbles and the carbonation is strong. On the palate, one can detect a complex taste of ripened fruits, caramel and malt with notes of flowers and dried fruits. It is smooth, rich, creamy and syrupy followed by an aftertaste of bitter almond and malted sweetness.
Cobra India 5% ABV An unlikely selection from India, Cobra is a more exotic choice. The colour is golden yellow with little foam and carbonation is quite low. The aroma is interestingly different—Indian spices and herbs fuse to create a beer that is also bread like and slightly hoppy. The body is light, smooth and simple with a hint of spiciness to taste. The aftertaste does not linger. Pair it perfectly with Indian curry dishes and other spicy foods too!
Peroni Nastro Azzurro Italy 5.1% ABV Here comes a beer from the country renown for wine. This is a typical Euro-style lager which is straw yellow with strong carbonation. It features a constant and foamy head. It smells and tastes of sweet grain, lightly malted, and has a slightly astringent but not at all hoppy quality. Enjoy a very crisp and simple yet refreshing finish. Here’s your best choice with pizza!
Estrella Inedit Spain 4.8% ABV Even though Estrella boasts a reputation for being a major beer brand in Spain, don’t be fooled... this is no ordinary mass-market product. Created in collaboration with Chef Ferran Adria of El Bulli restaurant, it comes in a 750ml wine bottle and designed to go well with food. And it does! This beer is characterized by a light hazy yellow colour and moderate carbonation. The main feature however is the sweet, flowery, orange peel aroma of a fragrant white wine made with prolonged maceration with grape skin (orange wine), combined with a slight sweetness on the palate. This amazing beer carries the taste profile of orange peel and honey. Yummy! With its fine long finish, this beer is more like a bottle of fine white wine than beer!
FrĂźli Strawberry Beer Belgium 4.1% ABV Here comes our dessert beer! Upholding the Belgian tradition of brewing beer with fruits and chocolate, this particular one is made from fresh strawberry juice. It has a very appealing brilliant red colour topped with a charming pink head. It is sweet and very fruity, loaded with fresh strawberries and notes of vanilla. It is non-artificial, has a well-balanced fruitiness, plus moderately strong carbonation with cider-like acidity. It leaves a soft touch of fresh carbonated strawberry juice, vanilla notes and good acidity that lingers on the palate. Definitely one of the best fruit beers I have ever had!

Learn the rules to play Sometimes the world just doesn’t seem fair. Why do kids have so many options for toys and adults don’t? The artistic looking micro-sculpture is in fact the popular desk toy Buckyballs which also comes in cubes and bars. The magnet balls snap as they slide, glide and stack and it just feels good to fidget with them. The magnet balls snap as they slide, glide and stack and it just feels good to fidget with them. It’s not surprising that it’s a favourite for many big kids. However, recently there has been some rumour about banning Buckyballs in the USA due to the potential hazard associated with swallow ing. Can you really blame it? Let’s not forget that it’s a magnet after all.
Biologists collect specimens to study a population’s properties. Often they are archived in a wooden display box with a glass surface and this has somehow become a kind of retro artistic expression. Designers Per & Bastian who aimed to create an aura of a real Collection Of Light have archived their objects in original insect collection drawers from the Museum of Natural History Stockholm. Each LED is labeled with name, size and its colour temperature. The 300, 150 or 90 LEDS are arranged in a specific order and illuminate harmony through the translucent glass.
Here we have another magnetic art form. Introducing the Magnetic Curtain by Florian Kräutli. Riding on its snapping characters and geometric structure, it’s a curtain whose parts you can simply push and pull as needed. Not only is it a genius idea, its appealing and sculptural appearance adds an edgy touch to the window. When it’s in production, can anyone resist not opening and closing this curtain? I bet not.
Box 1-7 is a hanging box storage system which is both functional and decorative. For those who have many ideas and cha¬nge their mind frequently, this design will probably suit them just fine. The modular design by Finnish designer Pekka Kuivamäki also makes moving to a new home a lot more convenient because it’s a shelf that is ready to be packed any time.

Is life delicate or powerful? Or both? The dandelion seed head is so fragile that it can easily be blown off, yet its seeds bring life to more dandelions. Fragile Future III consists of up to 500 modules of dandelights in threedimensional form, each reflecting their strong survival strength. The lightsculture is powered by an electronic system with real dandelions, designed by Lonneke Gordijn who aims to tell a story of their amalgamation. There is an optional feature of diminished light which occurs when someone approaches closely as if demonstrating a natural instinct to protect oneself. After all, which is more advanced, our technology or nature?
What have the public bought Queen Elizabeth II for the Diamond Jubilee? From the creative industry, Patone and Leo Burnett, London together launched a limited edition Diamond Jubilee Colour Guide. A guide charts The Majesty’s six decades of bespoken style in colour and includes the Patone 13-0755 Primrose Yellow that she wore at William’s wedding, her favourite shades 13-4411 Crystal Blue, the gradually hotter pink in her mature years from 16-2124 Pink Carnation and lastly the 13- 5414 Ice Green which she wore during her landmark state visit to Ireland in the 20s to welcome a new beginning after gaining independence.
Colour can be just as sophisticated as black, especially when it is incorporated with the right design and materials. This Brilliant Acrylic Console Table is one of the hottest items from Alexandra Von Furtenberg’s furniture line. Why? The answer lies within its simplicity. The clean lines and perfect amount of colour reflection truly demonstrate modernism. This is an item to be watched in this contemporary era!
This 36 Pencil Bowl is an essential item for every artist feast where creative types gather to art jam. Pull a pencil out from the colour set and starting drawing while appreciating the forbidden fruits at the same time. Some artists may question what pencils could the simple yet genius design fit. Don’t worry, it’s made for all levels from novice to pro. For example, Stabilo Aquacolor 1600, Caran d’Ache Prismalo I and many more.

Are these coming from architect models? Possibly! The question is best left to architect Julian Hakes to answer. Initially, the Mojito shoe was only a concept where he reviewed the possibility of removing the duplication of footplate, a natural part of the foot's ability to perform. The single ribbon warp form was realised and put into production two years later, comprised of Carbon fiber for the core, leather on the foot side and rubber on the sole.
If every great award deserves a trophy that suits the occasion, it must be an extraordinary achievement when these Trophies transformed from standard drinking glasses are selected! The cylinder shaped glasses have been ground off to have other glasses with stems fit in or cut off the bottom, then they're melted together on top of another glass. Studio Wiekisomers plays around with glasses as a poet does with words, and the rearrangement of the glasses gives form to the different possibilities for trophies.
