York Show Set To Return Sept. 17, 18, And 19 The Original 177th Semiannual York Antiques Show and Sale is scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Sept. 17, 18, and 19, at Memorial Hall East, located within the York Fairgrounds Convention and Expo Center in downtown York, Pa. This popular event will feature carefully screened exhibitors offering a truly impressive and outstanding variety of antiques and collectibles. According to show manager Melvin L. Arion, the merchandise will run the full gamut in both furniture and accessories. He does an exceptional job of making sure the scope of merchandise
offered at this event is as broad as possible so nearly any visitor can find a “new” treasure. In addition, all major credit cards will be accepted. Show hours both Friday and Saturday are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking is free of charge. The building is

New England Antiques At The Peacham Carriage Company Selling Antiques In The Northeast Kingdom By Beth Kanell It helps to own an 1830 house when you’re selecting antiques for a Vermont shop. When John Engle of Peacham Carriage Company examines a new item for his stock, he begins with whether it would look good over his own mantelpiece. That test can’t apply to larger items, like the elegant carriage in the front of the shop, one of two that may have carried President Lincoln in Boston, but for handstitched samplers, “primitive” paintings, butter molds, even railroad items and cast-iron banks, the sense of “fitting in” for his period home often guides this owner. The shop features more than 3,000 items. Re-opening after pandemic closures coupled with an accelerated housing boom in Vermont meant that in a single recent month, Engle and his nephew, Peter Anthony, manager, assisted buyers and collectors in taking home more duck decoys, bird carvings, kerosene lanterns, marbles, hat pins, buttons, clocks, signs, and, of course, cat and dog images than in an entire year pre-pandemic.
