END OF MODULE SELF-EVALUATION NAME
1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them? In this module, I have developed essential skills relating to type, colour and layout. I know confidentially how to use colour in my work, or to avoid using colour if appropriate. I also understand and know, now, the origins of fonts, and the four types of fonts, which are Roman, Gothic, Block and Script. I also know how to use layout, I’ve learnt some new terminology, and new methods of constructing grids in InDesign. 2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process? I have developed my approach towards layout, I now feel more comfortable to experiment with grids and layout, to achieve a better looking piece of work. I will also be more aware of colour, it’s effects and the cost to print, which may cause me to limit the amount of colours I use. 3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these? A strength I can identify in my work is my ability to create layouts quickly, and creatively, I think I would be able to capitalise on this to create a broad range of layouts, quickly, with a high quantity of variations. 4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future? A weakness I can identify in my with my work in the module would be the time I give my self to work, once again this falls with time management, which I need to address by prioritising myself, and doing work as it’s set, rather than allowing it to pile up, and overwhelm me. 5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these? If I were to redo this module, firstly, I would perhaps undergo my own investigations as well as the in class investigations. Secondly, I would consider my printing prior, as I had issues printing towards the end of the module, as the work came closer to the deadline. I would also experiment more with my work, doing more than expected rather than the bare minimum. Finally, I would have started blogging earlier, using a mac application, rather than writing the notes and retyping them, I changed this half was through the module, and blogging became much easier.
6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate using an ‘x’) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor 1

Attendance Punctuality x Motivation x Commitment x Quantity of work produced x Quality of work produced x Contribution to the group The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
