END OF MODULE SELF-EVALUATION
NAME Anthony White

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?!
!
Throughout this module I’ve learned a lot of new skills, various new print methods, which I’m able to describe in my publication. I’ve learned some additional coding skills in Dreamweaver, as over summer I learned how to code, but Simon taught me a better way of working. I’ve also developed my researching, I’ve done far more research in this module, than even perhaps in all my modules last year combined.
2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?!
!
I’ve developed my research and conceptualisation stage. I do a lot more research, and I spend slightly more time planning, and producing a more focused solution. I’ve been pushed to really think about my audience. Allowing me to condition and develop my concept, bringing it to a higher standard, with higher appeal. My layouts are more through. I start with scamps an then work my way up to full, actual size layouts. Before digitising the work.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?! ! I strength I can identify in my work is the use of hierarchy throughout my designs. Using font weights to set an established order through my designs. I also think my planning throughout is through, informed by a great amount of research. Which I’m extremely happy with, due to the amount I’ve done in comparison to level 4.
!
4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?!
!
One of the many weaknesses in my work, has been my experimentation, I’ve not really gone out of my comfort zone, I’m used to digital printing, or sending work off to be produced, such as publications. However, this time I have screen printed and bound my own books. I need to improve my experimentation, and practice, I need to improve the quality of work produced. ! 5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?!
!
1) I want to aim higher, I’ve been limiting myself by proposing very small, safe projects. I want to go for something bold, new, different, experimental. So I can learn from experiment, and produce a higher quality of work, in the long term.! 2) I will spend more time working on my final resolution, although my planning has improved, it’s certainly reduced the amount of time I would spend on my final product. By balancing the time, and working harder, I should be able to improve both.! 3) Start right away. At the start of the term, we had one brief, I took it rather lightly. I hardly did any work in the opening week. Once the briefs started to pile up, I was overwhelmed for a few weeks, to catch up. If I start right away on the next module, I’ll be on track.! 4) Towards the end of the module, I cracked time management, I learned to enjoy working, and I was doing it all the time, If I developed that mindset earlier on, I would’ve produced a much higher quality product. ! 5) Stop looking at what everyone else is doing, it spend far too much time looking at other peoples work, instead of focusing on my own.

The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
