Protected zones Different authorities are involved in protecting and managing the landscape of the territory, some of them have overlapping regions that they are incharge of . Understanding how this system works is key to identifying zones of intervention and establishing the kinds of relationships that these bodies will have and the roles they could play in the overall strategy.

Considerations History The landscape Seasonality The Olympic program
The location of the Olympic village In the bid, it is stated that the Olympic village has been chosen to be in this location because of the flatness of the land, the already existing technical infrastructure and the PGT of Livigno, which states that the area should be regenerated. This poses a risk to the natural environment that must be considered carefully in moving forward with design and construction of the village. The location also brings with it opportunities, in that it can be a good opportunity to make interventions on the surrounding, these interventions can be natural (development of a public park), development of water sports and tourism and development of built infrastructure by extracting programmatic components from the list of programs for the Olympic village.

The drawing shows the areas that are at risk of flooding if the water levels rise and the possible location of landslide according to the (Simulation done by team according to data from PIF Piano Indirizzo Forestale)
Besides infrastructure, the practice of sport in everyday life is highly dependent on the availability of natural resources such as clean air, clean water and undeveloped land, as well as healthy ecosystems such as green urban areas, mountains, forests, lakes. We recognise the need to protect these natural resources, to restore ecosystems damaged by human activities, to integrate the value of ecosystem services in decisionmaking and to halt the global loss of biodiversity.

The winter Olympics event provides a good opportunity for Livigno to rethink the relationship of the city with the natural environment, the already existing sports and touristic activities can be enhanced and made more sustainable by using the winter Olympics as an opportunity that brings with it:
The seasonal regulation of water level on the lake provides the opportunity to establish alternative touristic, sports and other public use functions

The construction tecniques and the layers applied allow the easy mountability of the buildings without the land modification 1 | Buildings posed on the already existing concrete pavement only need a wooden beam framing to support the light structure
2| Buildings posed on the agricutural land, they need short poles to be elevated from the ground, implementing thermal insulation
3| Buildings posed on the lake side, they need long piers to stay stable against the water movement and the gravel soil
Lakeside in the summer The lakeside becomes a hub of watersports and other leisure activities, the watersports training base and other nearby buildings facilitate these activities and enhance people’s experience of the spaces
The path and the park The path linking the lake to the land is enhanced by the buildings located on the left and right of it, the buildings serve as centers for interaction, and support the outdoor activity by providing users with necessary facilities.
Lakeside in the winter In the winter the landscape changes completely, the waterfront also gets transformed into an active sports and recreation space and the buildings serve as preparation bases and view points for spectators.
Reflection
Besides infrastructure, the practice of sport in everyday life is highly dependent on the availability of natural resources such as clean air, clean water and undeveloped land, as well as healthy ecosystems such as green urban areas, mountains, forests, lakes. We recognise the need to protect these natural resources, to restore ecosystems damaged by human activities, to integrate the value of ecosystem services in decisionmaking and in the longrun to halt the global loss of biodiversity.
