Glen Cove is a tree city, and to continue the legacy of having great trees, there will be an Arbor Day Tree Planting Celebration at Morgan Park at 9 a.m. and City Sta dium at 10 a.m. Please help the Beau tification Commission by volunteering. Garvies Point Museum and Preserve, 50 Barry Dr. in Glen Cove, will be holding its sixth Annual Native Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. supporting North Shore Audubon & Friends of Garvies Point Museum. Tenor Joe Stroppel will present an afternoon of classic music from Broadway and the Great American Songbook. A Glen Cove native and junior at Hunter College, Stroppel will be accompanied by pianist Tess Loucka, and the hour-long program will feature music by George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Cole Porter, along with modern composers such as Stephen Sondheim and Lin-Man uel Miranda. NYC themed refreshments served. Cost is $20, or $15 for members. The concert will be at North Shore His torical Museum, 140 Glen Street in Glen Cove.

Meetings

Round table meet ings at the Glen Cove Public Library, 4 Glen Cove Ave., from 7 to 8 p.m. are a welcoming circle for like-minded genealogists. Small groups meet monthly to share strategies and encourage one another on their research journey. All levels of researches are welcome.

Elvis movie showing

The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, 89 E Main St., will be showing the 2022 Elvis movie from 2 to 4 p.m. 6 to 8 p.m. The summary of the movie is as follows: “Elvis Presley rises to fame in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.” The movie is 159 minutes long and is rated PG-13.

Babysitting Workshop with the Cornell Cooperative Extension

From 1 to 4 p.m., the Glen Cove Public Library will be hosting a course designed to help students in grades five through 12th grade to develop the skills necessary for the responsibility of being a sitter—child safety, developmental stages of children and how to plan activities that are age appropriate. Hands-on activities and course certification are included. This workshop is presented by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County. To register, visit glencovelibrary.org.
