Eastern entrance of Sri Mallikarjuna temple ( streetin front of easterngopuram) complex of Srisailam , in Kurnool district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

 The place is approachable today by road from Dornala 58 km by bus apart from the ancient routes .

 The nearest railway station is Marakapur ,( 91 km ) in Kurnool district

 The nearest airport is Hyderabad ( 230 km ),from where buses are plying to Srisailam .

 The structure can be approached by the street situated infront od eastern gopuram.

 The porch is quadrilateral form.

 The garbhagriha is in square form.

ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY

 It was constructed during the Vijaynagara Dynasty.

 The mandapa was built by Krishna Devaraya in 1516 A.D.

GENERAL CONDITION OF THE STRUCTURE

The structures are surrounded by Eastern Gopura atone end , entrance gate at other end . The The place is approachable today by road from Dornala 58 km by bus apart from the ancient routes

The structure was builtas a setup for restingor stayingof pilgrims visitingthe temple .

FUTURE CONDITION May deteriorate soon due to the wrong interventions done on and near the structure

STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

 Shalu mandapa acts as a grandeur to the easternentrance of the temple complex

 These structures are of great significance and stand an important need to be conserved since they were examples of how the Vijayanagara period had a greater influence on the overall temple complex.

THREAT TO THE STRUCTURE

Vijaynagara style of architecture .

 Few portions of the roof is completely damaged .

 The queue line made at the back of the mandapam , led to a generation of negative space at the back of the structure which led to negligence of the space and thus convertingit into a small dump yard which led to the accumulation of water and thus leadingto the dampness

 The electrical lines done on the roof of the mandapam is leadingto the degradation of the structure .

 Roof of the shrines are havingcracks is another threat to the structure .

 IMMEDIATE WORK : Roof and beam repair work has to be done with minimum intervention .

 SHORT TIME SPAN : Wall repair should be taken care of in gradual time course .
