WELCOME
WE ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME YOU TO THE THIRD EDITION OF SPRING MASTERS NEW YORK. Originally founded by the Art and Antique Dealers League of America as the Spring Show NYC for its dealer members, the event was significantly restructured in 2014 in response to growing demand for an international, high-quality art and design fair on the New York spring calendar.
Michael Plummer Director Spring Masters New York
It has been an exciting transformation: the fair has expanded to nearly 60 exhibitors, many of them from the UK and Europe. The design by architect Rafael Viùoly has created the boldest change to the art fair plan at the Park Avenue Armory in over thirty years, promising a unique experience for exhibitors and visitors alike. For this third edition, we have brought together an eclectic mix of leading art and design dealers, from antiquity through the 21st century, to fulfill our mandate of presenting contemporary and traditional art and design in dialogue with one another. This year we welcome back our charity partner, Project Art, whose visionary program brings visual arts programs to underserved children in New York and other cities in the US. As with all great fairs, Spring Masters New York is fully vetted. The vetting committee is composed of recognized experts with decades of experience in their respective fields, ensuring that collectors can buy with confidence. We are grateful to the members of the committee and most especially its Chairman, Alasdair Nichol, for generously sharing such expertise and time. Lastly, we look forward to Spring Masters’ future as part of TEFAF New York, and returning to the Armory in October later this year and in May 2017 with this exciting new venture.

VETTING
FOR FINE ART & DESIGN FAIRS, vetting has long been established as a means to ensure that collectors can proceed with confidence in the knowledge that what they are buying is accurately and fairly described. It is also a form of quality control which guarantees that the works on exhibition are of a standard commensurate with their inclusion at an important fair. Given the diversity of period, origin and category of the works at Spring Masters, it was essential to assemble a Vetting Committee of the highest caliber with each of the experts having extensive experience within their chosen field of specialization. It gives me pleasure to thank all of the members of the Spring Masters Vetting Committee for the generous contribution of their time and talent thus ensuring the integrity of the works for sale as well as that of the fair itself. Alasdair Nichol Chairman, Spring Masters Vetting Committee

PROJECTART | BOOTH E1
PROJECTART’S MISSION IS TO CHANGE THE WAY THE WORLD VALUES ARTS EDUCATION AND EMPOWER CREATIVE CONFIDENCE IN EVERY CHILD. Today, millions of children in the United States are denied an opportunity to explore their creative abilities due to the systematic defunding of arts education in public schools and libraries. At the same time, access to adequate, affordable and meaningful art studio spaces have also become increasingly out of reach for emerging artists due to overdevelopment and gentrification. Through activating a symbiotic partnership, ProjectArt brings together stakeholders to solve two national arts access crises, while attracting and retaining new audiences at libraries. Our mutually beneficial collaborative system places emerging artists in public libraries for year-long arts residencies, offering them studio spaces where they can create art and in return, artists teach hands-on arts education classes for children who lack arts access in their schools. Using art as the primary vehicle to facilitate creative place-making, ProjectArt transforms public libraries into much-need decentralized cultural hubs that nurture inter-cultural dialogue and create a ripple effect of cultural engagement and community-building. Awareness is key to creating support for access to arts education, which is why ProjectArt is thrilled to be partnering with Spring Masters New York. Spring Masters provides the perfect forum to connect with supporters who know, as we do, that access to arts is essential to life.

A1 GALLERY 19C Gallery 19C is an international gallery focusing exclusively on the 19th century, one of the richest, most diverse 100 years in the history of art. We believe that the 19th century is poised for a much deserved reevaluation, after almost 80 years in obscurity due to the fixation with Impressionism and other forms of modern and contemporary art. As a gallery, our goal is to offer the best works by the most significant artists from the period. Eric Weider and Polly Sartori represent an unusual combination of expertise and passion for the 19th Century. Eric has been a collector for 25 years and understands the collector’s need for quality and value. Polly has 30 plus years of experience running the 19th Century Paintings Departments at both Christie’s and Sotheby’s in New York. Together they bring incredible depth of knowledge and dedication to the formation of Gallery 19C.
