BACKGROUND

BACKGROUND

In the past, the neightbour relationship of people are very closed. However, this condition is changing because of the faster working speed. In order to maintain this relationship, changing the perspective according of the different platforms level can be a good method. Besides, people can focus on the foot level as same as the level of shoes which is the main concept of this building.

- A Couple: both leather shoe makers, another cobbler is hired - To design flexible and functiona spaces for owner - To enhance the problems affected by high density in Sham Shui Po (e.g. less daylight, ventilation and noise)

PROPOSED STRUCTURAL LAYOUT

The main structure of this building is Steel Frame. As there are different inter-locking and cantilevered spaces, the loading also through the structural wall transfer to the ground. The structural walls are willing to on the same position for the loading transfer.

FACADE MATERIAL TIMBER LIKE PLASTIC PLATE

CIRCLED ALUMINUM MESH

CURTAIN WALL

The facade is just like the bottom plate of leather shoe which is to support the loading. The most of leather shoes are used the wood bottom plate as its duration. For the building facade, the timber like plastic plate can become the main symbol. The circled aluminum mesh is used in the semi-private spaces such as Studio, Lasts Production Area and Material Storage. The private spaces such as Master Bedroom and Guest Bedroom also used this mesh in facade. The reason is not only to block some of sunlight, but also provide transparence between inside and outside. On the lower level like Last Production Area, it can increase the relationship with the people outside street. They can see the lasts and shoes level. The curtain wall also adopt for increasing the relationship with external.
