REDEFINING PLATITUDES | Breaking Representational Stereotypes

Page 1

THE CHALLENGE Architecture can evoke multiple emotions that create a vast spectrum of connections within individuals. Limiting oneself to a single school of thought and stereotypes is unjust to the potential of architecture. Renders are visual representations of the story architecture speaks. The unique style of Zaha Hadid’s abstractions, B.V Doshi’s vibrant illustrations, and the representations by Arata Isozaki, Bernard Tschumi, Cedric Price follow an unorthodox outlook inclined away from the drawings we usually find. Different styles can create vivid imagery that can jolt people’s senses. Keeping up with the theme of “Breaking Stereotypes” for August, DAC brings the opportunity to knit the design that you created in the past with renewed and empowered graphics into an unconventional narrative. For this, each team member needs to choose an existing drawing or illustration from any of their previous projects. Based on it, develop a narrative which is distinctive from the existing narrative of your project. Representation Ideas will be crucial in expressing the kind of setting and mood you want to give to your new narrative, so explore new mediums, textures, graphic styles, and many more to establish the same.
