The actual Albufeira’s name comes from the Arab name that means “Sea Castle” probably due to the proximity of the village to the sea or lagoon that was formed in the lower part of the area. With regards to its century history there are still heritages to be found. In the old town, don’t miss the opotunity to visit the Parish Church, the Archeological Museum and the Saint Sebastian Church which held a religious art exhibition. In the countryside do a visit to the Village of Paderne and visit the Acordeon Museum, the Parish Church and the Padern’s Castle built between the XI and XII centurys by the Moors. In Guia don’t miss the oportunity to visit the Parish Church with beautiful Panel tiles from the XVII century and take a try in our Chicken Piri Piri. By the sea, don’t miss the oportunity to visit Olhos de Água, a small Fisherman’s Village, where you can find submarine water springs during the low tide.
