Will Smith was an Oscar nominee for his performance as the heavyweight champ — whose personal life has been as colorful as his style in the ring — in director Michael Mann’s (“Heat”) biographical 2001 drama. The film examines the former Cassius Clay’s relationships with righthand man Drew “Bundini” Brown (Jamie Foxx) and sportscaster Howard Cosell (a heavily made-up Jon Voight), and the controversies Ali stirred.
Wendy Crewson is happy that “Good Sam” has cast her as an atypical mom. Though the Canadian actress is portraying the mother of Sophia Bush’s head-surgeon title character in the Wednesday CBS drama series, Crewson’s Vivian also is the medical chief of the hospital in question, and her charges also include her doctor ex-husband Griff (Jason Isaacs) ... whose frequent clashes with their daughter force Vivian to play mediator more often than she’d like. Amanda Seyfried (“Mank,” “Les Miserables”) is the dropout of the title in this limited series from Elizabeth Meriwether (“New Girl”), which casts her as Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes, whose vision for a revolutionary bloodtesting device brought her to the top of the business world before she was arrested and charged with defrauding investors. Naveen Andrews, William H. Macy, Laurie Metcalf and Utkarsh Ambudkar also star. (ORIGINAL)
