Michelle Elaine Designs is a full service custom jewelry and accessories shop located inside the Harbor District Market in downtown Washington, NC. Michelle Roper is the owner and jewelry maker and has been making jewelry and hair accessories for over 35 years. She moved to Washington, NC in January 2021 from Suffolk, VA, and In March of that year, she set-up shop in a booth at 140 W. Main Street, Washington, NC. Michelle started making jewelry as a teenager and after a career in government finance decided to pursue her hobby full time.

Michelle’s business specializes in special occasion and bridal jewelry and accessories using Swarovski crystal beads, cubic zirconia, freshwater pearls, semiprecious stone beads and precious metals such as sterling silver and 14 karat gold findings. She has worked with many brides to create custom wedding jewelry and accessories that reflect the bride’s own vision and style and that also coordinate with the color scheme for each wedding. Michelle also can work within any bride’s budget as she has a wide variety of bead and finding suppliers.

Michelle Elaine Designs store front shop, located at the Harbor District Market, also has a wide selection of premade jewelry in all price ranges. Her shop also stocks headbands, hair bows, shoe clips and zipper pulls. Michelle hand makes flowers from foam for corsages and boutonnieres, hair pins, hair vines and combs as well as wedding cake toppers. These flowers last forever and can be re-purposed in the bride’s new home or as a wedding keepsake. Another service that Michelle provides is making a wedding bracelet or garter from lace from the bride’s mother’s or grandmother’s wedding gown.
